BoonyIts always hard when a family member goes in for a proceedure. But rest assured she will come out like new on the other side.
August 4, 2009 at 6:07 am #146888Have only breifly read through this thread so excuse me for jumping in. When i had my DRZ I had the suspension done by racetech and they fitted a 3mm spacer in the rear shock that stoped that arse down feeling the DRZ is renowned for, the mod was the best thing I ever did to that bike. I am sure Nick from Tecknic could do the same thing. Anyways thats my 20 cents worth, enjoy your DRZ they are bloody great bikes, and as a Honda fan i hate to say it but I think it is the best alround dirt bike on the market (great at nothing, good at everything)thats the enduro model. The street model is a bit gay (not that there is anything wrong with being gay).
August 6, 2009 at 8:55 am #145553Got a call from Teknik today to say that they were putting my forks back together and would i like new seals fitted, dam right i want new seals fitted didnt you allow for that in your quote to rebuild my forks?? No if you want new seals its xtra $100.00 WHAT!!Seals are $42.00 and you have my forks stripped down?? Long story short after much debate if you get a quote add $100 to it for seals!! Forks are on and will give them a work out this weekend, hope they are as good as they tell me after spending $589.00. Will let you know how i go with them this weekend.

August 6, 2009 at 9:07 am #147244I have been burnt myself, more than once I am sad to say. I now insist on written itemised quotes. If they won’t do it there must be a catch or they just don’t want your work.
August 6, 2009 at 9:11 am #147245What Boondog said!! That Sux!! Was oil included in the original price? or did that come with the seal Job?
I get seals from Pyramid parts for $17 a set and it only takes 10 minutes to put them in:unsure: Hope your happy with them Boulder, let us know your thoughts after your next ride;)

August 6, 2009 at 10:21 am #145554Hey Ollie, im over it now mate, the forks are on and am looking forward to seeing how they perform!! I was a bit pissed with them and thought seals would be included in a rebuild but thats life as they say!! let you know how they go over this weekend.
August 6, 2009 at 10:27 am #147264$100 for seals OH MY GOD. Thats rude. Does that include dust seals and a head job.
August 6, 2009 at 10:27 am #147265Yeah I would have thought so to Boulder, disappointing hell yeah, but I know that it will be a different bike and the money will feel well spent on saturday afternoon

August 6, 2009 at 10:32 am #147266Just on seals, that old 600 that Chicken has, I spent over $1000 dollars on those forks with 4 shops from Sydney to Bundaberg and they continued to leak, 3 different brands of seals, bushes etc they did it all, all the experts, took them to Technics and they haven’t been touch since Nov 2005 and its done some work, was the best money I ever spent. $100 with them apart is rude but

August 6, 2009 at 10:37 am #147268seals could have costed $200.OO the price is only part of the problem,,They still should have been in the quote if old mate knew that he would have to replace them as part of the rebuilt????
August 6, 2009 at 10:45 am #147270Forkin Suxs doesn’t it. sorry.
August 6, 2009 at 12:24 pm #147272Hey Boulder
I would of thought a fork mod would of included new seals and of course oil but I guess you really have to stipulate what you want from these so called experts (woops, no offence to the dudes who did your work but I’m sure its the same everywhere) Itemised quotes are the goB)
Cheers
MurphAugust 9, 2009 at 11:08 am #145555Well guys I have to say the DRZ is not the same bike!! Teknik have worked wonders with my forks its amazing the difference it makes I could’nt be happier and the rear spring has made a huge imporvement too. Even after the expensive seals at $66.00 and sliders at $33.00 I am very happy with the result and have no regrets. There are lots of good suspension tuners out there and you may get the same results for less money but either way I highly recommend this upgrade:)
