    Forks and shock went into Chads tonight for the respring, revalve & service. Pick them up on Friday morning so should be riding by the weekend. He advised me that seeing that
    I have it striped down so far to dismantle the stem bearings and give them a good clean & regrease as a new set of bearings goes for around $120 plus any other damage that may occure. Sounds like good advice as he stated that it is something that is generally overlooked.

    Boony, you better ‘gear up’ and do your rear static and race sag now you have had the forks done, you need to keep the bike balanced front to rear.
    If you have a C spanner bring it on Sundy, we might need to adjust it.
    Same for you Smurf19.

    Also guys, i installed a grease nipple to the steering head of my DRZ so you can keep it greased and not worry about water getting in so much.
    The steering head full of grease doesn’t matter because grease doesn’t weigh much.

    You do need the right tools for this mod though.

    where did you mount the nipple. I have the taps to do this and would be good to do while I have it all apart

    You can just put the nipple anywhere it wont interfere with anything like wires or cables, but make sure the grease gun can fit on easily too.
    Oh and dont drill through the compliance plate :blush:
    Also give the head a good clean out after the tapping is done, any crap left in there will end up in the bearings eventually.

    I have tightened the rear by srcewing down the 2 nuts on the rear shock, may now need to re do it all…Thank you for the infoSame for you Smurf19.

    Ecks had his old DRZ jacked up by Racetech I think. I had a spin around rocky Catombal. Very impressed. You should be happy with the results despite the seal cost drama. That money is on the mark from memory.

    The Dr all stripped downn awaiting the return of the forks and shock ready for tomorrows rebiuld. New rubber lying in wait to go on. Hopefully it’ll give more traction on the snow ride

    the ride on sunday was testing on the drz suspension,lots of snotty rutty trails, my new springs seemed to soak up the bumps really well, the bike tracked well and turned sharply, some of the square edge pot holes did throw out a test and the forks seemed to handle it pretty well. when i ride in a familiar area (nundle) i will be able to report more,,,But I am so far very happy with the result.

    Hey Boondog. I too got the seal sting from Teknik when I had my forks done. I had already withdrawn random amounts of money from three different accounts just to keep the accountant (wife) at bay. I then got the extra $100 thrown at me but in all fairness they did call me to let me know that the seals were optional as mine seemed OK but while they were at it I said to swap them out.

    I have since forgotten the cost and am enjoying the ride and considering I blew twice that amount on the piss last saturday night it seems like money well spent.

    Did you really need heavier springs or could you have just removed your panniers and weed spraying equipment. Kicking the dog of will liven her up too!:laugh: :laugh:

    why would i want to do that??if I done that, you would have no chance of keeping up,,so we`ll the farm acceesories on for your sake hey.:)
