This was my first ride since joining obt last week and I was lucky enough to get all obt ride. The other guys were either working or broken down .
STMs backyard is a trailriders dream with a good mix of single track , fire trail ,logs ,and hill climbs. Their is very little rock and lots of loamy soil through stunning rain forest.
We started the ride early and the pace was perfect , STM has spent an amazing amount of time maintaining these trails and even last week before the ride made the effort to manicure some of the single track which didn’t meet his standard or stopped a flowing ride.
I was getting to grips with having a back brake at last after some obt advice and all was going well until…STM then announced we would be coming up to a 2 stage hill that’s a bit tricky. This was not great news for me as in the 10 months I have been riding i have only tackeled a couple of hills , one of which I was only told it was hard once I’d reached the top and have never got up it since!
Anyway enough excuses I stuffed it right up.more than once . In fact I had to offer corey8 a ride on the DRZ to get to the top, and the bugger only flew up first time, with style, and using a tree at the top to bounce the front wheel back on track. I have to thank him though I think I would still be their. If getting my bike up the hill wasn’t enough he then let’s me ride his klx home, a very very impressive ride too.
I didn’t get to see STM much today as like always he was throwing his wr250 around the single tracks at good pace.
Anyway thanks STM for a great ride despite the hill climb shame!!May 15, 2010 at 7:05 am #179227Well what a day I have had.
Started out With a 5.30am start to get ready and pick Nathan up before heading up to Scotts house to go play in his back yard. Once there we unloaded the KLX and the WR when NickyJ with his DRZ and Tdriver and his WR showed up. I got the Old bulls sticker of Scott that now sits proudly on my front gaurd.
After little Jess STM’s boy was finished sussing out the bikes we geared up and headed out hoping to do more of these singles then last time i came up and did sweet FA riding before STM slit his throat. Well i was not disapointment with the day of around 55km’s and i would have to say some of the best singles i have ever ridden.
He has every thing there from the open fast trail to the extremely tight singles and my favourite a hill climb for me to play on. on one of the singles STM took off so i chased him down in a very tight single and it wasn’t to the end of the trail he relised he had some one sitting on his tail
At the hill climb we had a bit of fun on that and it did come with a challenge but nothing we couldn’t handle if you listen to the right directions hey scott
We were heading for the “widdow maker” hill and i was extra excited to have my first crack at her then we came accross a little event called the Australian Rally Championship (not happy jan) so we just headed of for more singles and i was having so much fun chassing STM in his back yard.
I swapped bikes with NickyJ and took the control of his DRZ which i thought would be a blast but now i know why i stepped up to the KLX as it is a far better bike to ride (sorry all you banana fans I’m a fan i just like my KLX better)
We headed back to town so Mr STM could go attend a wedding and have a huge piss up and he deserves it.
Thanks STM for a top day

May 15, 2010 at 11:09 am #179236Today was epic!!!
It would have been me going for a ride on my own but thanks to OBT we had 5 memebers running at full tilt. No sweep but cornerman ran sweep and it ran clean.
Nice work Nickj, Tdriver, Corey8, Nathan08. It was as good as it gets.
