on the way home from the famed Nundle weekend, Mal and I stopped into our old buddy Moto’s place for the night.
it was good to see him and Tyne again. we had many a drink and chat and a grouse feed of thai.
i ran out of whiskey, which was probably a good thing
and finally crashed with motos two labradors for warmth  :laugh:i was pretty dry in the morning and battled down a bit of brekky
as soon as we had geared up i was cooking and resorted to lapping from motos front tap like a dog :side: 😆murph rolled up looking freshly tanned. it was past blast off time and we hadnt seen beemei. Mals bike was feeling a little daunted being surrounded by orange and had a little hissy fit. as soon as beemei arrived it fired into life, blocked jet or something
riding through the shopping centre certinely raised more than one eyebrow  as we cruised through to get our beach permits. all sorted and we hit it. it is awesome. sand as far as you can see, well pretty much
heres some vid..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYkEbzQQ4Fg
we headed out to tin city…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OL6W-Y-uIcEheres some more sandy stuff  …
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXVIBdwzCAQthen we hit the Signa wreck…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaGda91klOcthat was all going north, we got some fuel and with moto’s silver tongue and Murphs rugged looks we managed to wriggle back out onto the beach past police and rangers
it was just meant to be
we found a giant ‘bowl’ of dunes…the wall of death as it was to be known. i boiled my bike on it but later realised my rad cap was loose, probably knocked it loose in a stack….i had plenty of those   it was alright after a camelbak topup
Murph was ripping the wall of death, pulling wheelies along it :woohoo: great to watch. freaky to try
it claimed us all at one stage i think :laugh:heading south is a lot different. the steep side of the dunes are bloody steep and come up with little warning to the unweary
heading back along the sand road was mad fun. it was like racing Baja at times  :laugh:it would be easy to bugger up un the big dunes. check out some of these drop offs…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwW4BVdvg10heres Mal, Murph and Moto at the Anna Bay Tavern. its a nice pub. icould handle living there
i loved the place. there were RAAF jets flying around all day, practicing for the airshow. wickedness.
it really takes it out of you though and the glare is shocking when the sun is out. tinted lenses for sure next time. i had blue ones and they were ok but i was still squinting heaps.i fully suggest the trip to anyone.
big thanks to Moto and Tyne for their hospitality
to Murph and Beemer for coming along
and Mal for the roadtrip in general..happy days

September 27, 2010 at 11:08 pm #187970I take it thats the wall of death Mal, looks like awesome fun. If only I had been at my new job longer I would have had a sickie or gotten the day off somehow, I reckon the Berg would have eaten that stuff up.
September 27, 2010 at 11:21 pm #187975Great read and videos guys, bloody awesome actually :woohoo: . I lived at Anna Bay for a year and used to ride the dunes and frequent the tavern  A mate I worked with lived near the lane and he rode a Honda 250 two stroke trike, it was a weapon of a thing on the dunes and would go near anywhere up there
Murphs Kato seemed to be cruising in the videos compared to the strokers although I am sure the strokers would have been easier to ride in the tighter sand trails being lighter.
Great seeing Moto out in his bling setup, he does live in paradise up there for sureThanks for the pictures and vidoes

September 28, 2010 at 7:09 am #187976i actually reckon i would have preferred a big 4 banger up there.
Murphs bike ate it up easy, espacially with Murph at the helm.
torque is the key to the dunes and although the 300 went well, it had something lacking…..
……BALLS!!
Jeffro, the Berger would love it. you could actually use all the stallions up there
a 2T 500 would be fun….or a Maico 700
now we’re talking

Yep, had some experience with that. Here is a trophy from my past experience, it’s the front rim. :S Luckily I only had some bumps and bruises

Bol :woohoo:September 28, 2010 at 8:29 am #187991I thought sand was supposed to be soft jeffro
September 28, 2010 at 8:41 am #187994It was, otherwise I would have broken something attached to me instead of just bits attached to the bike
September 28, 2010 at 11:22 am #187902Good report Menace
Nice to see my young  nephew out on his bike again something he needs to be doing a lot more of.
I’m sure one day he will bring it up here for a ride before I get too old
