Just hearing a few stories just this week about stolen bike in the Newcastle area.Bikes are being stolen from garages at night between 12 midnight and 6am while families sleep in the house so make sure ya bikes are locked up good and tight locked to something solid and put ya bolt cutters and cutting implements away.Might even help to double lock the them, one I heard of had just a disc lock on and they just simply draged the wheel along and down the street then must have put it in a ute or truck/trailer and drove off all while the bloke sleep. So just a heads up and aware,Look for anyone following ya home and if ya garage faces the street keep ya door shut as much as possible
“E”November 16, 2009 at 11:27 am #161215I’ve heard they’ll use skate boards to get passed the disc locks. In case they’re not well known the link below has disc locks that have a tilt sensor with a siren.

November 16, 2009 at 12:16 pm #161219Get some thick heavy pipe cut two bits out either end then dynabolt the pipe to the concrete floor then bur the head of the dynabolts so that they can,t be removed then you buy the cable lock about 3 feet long from accessorie shop you loop it through the pipe and your bike is parked over the top of the pipe then its looped through the frame I paid about $80 for my cable lock but my bike was a lot more!

November 16, 2009 at 7:51 pm #161232After several race meetings of late here, members bikes have been getting knocked off. It turns out that the mongrels would get an order for a specific model and they would just go to the track, watch one get loaded and follow it home. Then help themselves to it in the following week. A light blue Commodore ute was seen cruising the areas the bikes were getting knocked off.
Last race meeting the ute was spotted at the track and the details taken down and then their method was used on them. The vehicle was followed to an address in Port Macquarie. The police were informed and upon their arrival at the address, the ute was there but not the driver. There was a young bloke at the address that shat himself when the cops arrived and spilt the beans about the operation. The owner of the ute has since been caught and it turns out he was from Newcastle and that is where they were operating from.
Lessons learnt, make sure you aren’t being followed and keep your eyes open for any vehicles acting suspiciously.November 16, 2009 at 7:53 pm #161233its sad that there are such low life around. know matter what alarm/protection you use to protect your property if the scum want it bad enough the will get and they dont give a sh&t how they do it..
As the saying goes locks are for honest people.
my shed has a bully protecting from inside the fence,a ridgeback and a blue cattle dog from over the wire fence and a good cattle dog on the other side,,i wish them all the best as the shed is 80 metres from the road, but the narny isnt the only thing they would target,,,XR6,quad,IT250,Trike,ride ons and soon to have XR8 ute in there as well.
loosen the gun laws i say :woohoo:

November 16, 2009 at 8:23 pm #161216i’ve heard alot of stories like that around newy too. bloody low i reckon. i always get my bike around the back and outer sight pretty quick after a ride. gone are the days when ya could wash it out the front. stealin a blokes bike is real dog act and i hope all of them get caught.
November 16, 2009 at 8:29 pm #161240Yeah we would wash the bikes out on the front lawn in the past too, gone are the days now.
Another tip is to limit full noise testing of your bike at home.

My two words are Swith Wesson.
First shot in there head.
Second shot in the shed wall.
When the cops arrive reverse the order.
PS two thing to note, don’t miss, and dead men don’t talk.   -
