AnonymousI think a thief thinks less of stealing a dirt bike than someones car. Most people don’t have a dirt bike as there only mode of transport and therefore they are viewed by these people as toys. I’m not saying it makes it any better, because, of course, it doesn’t. However, I do think it is part of the reason they are such a target for thiefs. That and the major fact that they are easy to steal and in the case of all but Honda, high value items.
I’ve been lucky and never had any of my bikes stolen. That said, my current setup really needs improving. Especially now I’ve advertised the fact on the internet
They want to hope I never catch them at it though.
December 17, 2008 at 6:39 am #115154Here’s an anecdotal example of how many stolen bikes are recovered…
After 18 and a bit years in the business, doing countless kays, stopping hundreds of thousands of bikes AND trailers…
two bikes recovered.
One was an old XR that had been gone for so long and the other was a crappy banana bike that the owner didn’t know had been taken. The stolen bikes simply aren’t out there or being transported in plain view or else more would be recovered.
Where are they all going? I reckon they’e being parted out or going interstate. As for bikes being offerred for sale in pubs, noone’s going to get a smack in the gob from me…I’ll happily set up the transaction though …
I reckon you blokes have got it all wrong, you should be buying things like Vors and ATKs! No bastard is silly enough to steal one of those!!!

Keep your chins up guys.Such an easy target being safety orange and all. Your right about being passed by KTM riders, they always seem to be in a hurry to get to the shop for spares:laugh:

Mate I am not sensitive , I am a caring sharing guy who will take lots of time to lovingly explain things to the unfortunates that need guidance(funny that they are usually Honda (TB) or Yamaha riders), Dont worry DanD when you are as good looking as me you cant take offence at what jealous people say, you get used to it.
