still don’t get it, :S
the bike costs X on its own, each year you pay rego and ctp on top of the cost of the bike, when you insure they ask the cost of the bike to replace not the cost of rego etc, so yeah you should get the refund of the rego and all that, but what does that have to do with the insurance guys?.
must be the same with cars i guess, I have just never had to claim beforeSeptember 16, 2011 at 5:18 pm #208015just dumb question can you cancel the rego on a stolen moter vehcal am not sure if you can.you got no plates to hand in and it won t be covered by ctp than and could still used on the road ?
September 16, 2011 at 6:01 pm #209022Bugger Bender, who woulda thought eh?
One of our very own gets his bike ripped, it’s an awfull feeling too… mine was taken near 30 years ago (xt200 workbike I had bought less than 4 weeks earlier on credit and restricted licence) and I still get cranky thinking about it as I had to pay it off…….
good luck with it

might be a while
and mr blue, i doubt i’ll ever stop looking for the grub, just so they never do it to another honest rider
September 16, 2011 at 6:32 pm #208017When you insure a vehicle you should insure for what it cost. If you bought it new it would include on road costs. Hard to explain and harder to grasp but understand you aren’t being ripped off
. In future if you feel hard done by here, insure for $500-$1000 dollars or so more as it would probably only cost $15-$20pa more in premium for a small bike.
You can get a refund on the rego and CTP even though it has been stolen as the insurer notifies the RTA of the fact.
Now on a lighter note how are you going with selecting a new bike?September 16, 2011 at 6:47 pm #208018may be a while, had a few nasty expenses so debts are up,
was contemplating a KLE500 as the reports that i have seen mention that it is a decent adventure bike and with a change of tyres is not too bad on the single trails……
too may to choose from – lolSeptember 16, 2011 at 7:16 pm #209025I haven’t ridden the KLE500 but from the look of it i don’t think it is much of a single trails bike.

MANHEIM auction are selling the army dr 400 and xt 600 some with low ks might be worth a lookSeptember 17, 2011 at 11:40 am #209032Giday Bender had a kle500 was a great bike on the black top and dirt road but tried to do the california trail on it and graded the road with the very thin sump guard , front suspension very soft , brakes non existant , seat very unconfortable , no big tank available , a little heavy , but sweet little engine . I traded mine on a dr650 cheers bones
September 17, 2011 at 2:15 pm #209045Thanks Bones,
had a sit on one yesterday and yeah one of the first things i’d do would be to stiffen the suspension and i had heard about the front brakes. After the TTR the seat felt very comfortable to me – lol.
was looking on youtube for footage of them offroad but all i could find was europeans riding through big puddles
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=La87cUACgPU&feature=relatedthanks again guys, the knowledge that gets shared on this site is awesome :cheer:
