Has anyone had any experience with the strike genius GPS? I think it is Aussie made so thought i would give it a go, but you only get map updates free for one year so not sure if that is a problem.

If it’s the Strike I tried I went through 3 of them that had a fault that seemed to occur when riding rough roads thankfully was known by Bikebiz who looked after me with a quick refund.

Hopefully they’ve improved them but I’d suggest buying from a reputable dealer just in case you have a drama that can’t be fixed like mine .

Jacko tried /had 3 of them over I think 6 months, they keep failing and he ended up getting a refund.

The updates wont be a problem, tracks and roads dont really change much if you think about it. The problem with them is you cant load tracks or routes on it

I forgot about not being able to load tracks and routes , not much use really !!

The Zumo has always worked well and still does after 2 years.

Thanks Guys, it just shows that what reads well doesn’t always work in the real world. So is there any chance of getting a “cheap” gps that won’t disintegrate on the teneres handlebars (I have had two iphone mounts snap off and was very lucky to catch them before they hit the dirt.)

    Hi Jim,
The Lifeproof iPhone cover is dust & waterproof and has a mount setup that’s been on my Tenere for about 8000kms without a problem.
As for a GPS, unfortunately I think you only get what you pay for!
I had an old Garmin Etrex legend many many years ago. The support I received well after the warranty expired meant I didn’t hesitate in purchasing a 62s earlier this year. It’s been a good little unit. The Zumo 220 has been good too. These have done the same mileage without a problem.

Ps the Zumo doubles as the family trucksters’ Gps when required

Thanks Crash, looks like I will have to go a garmin. My iphone case was a biological
