Great day out with a top bunch of blokes.

1st Leg, Stroud To Bulahdelah 73klms

Muffbergers kick starter snapped 1st kick in the morning and with a flat battery we had no option but to jump start the bike. As a result, 8 of us got under way at 0800 instead of the planned 0730…not to bad, especially considering the king size hangover a few of us were nursing, myself included.

Muffberger decided to bail after the 1st little snotty section for fear of not being able to restart his bike and hindering the ride. That left 7 of us. Conditions were really slippery in this section of forest which meant you had to be alert and focussed at all times to avoid coming off. I think most of us “inspected ground conditions” in this first leg including myself. We crossed paths with another 2 riders, a father and son team who we invited to join our group. We now had a group of 9. Pulled in at O’Sullivans at Bulahdelah for refuelling and a bite to eat.

2nd Leg, Bulahdelah to Bunyah 67klms

Awesome bit of riding in this section of forest. George got a rear puncture, lost a bit of time as a result so I cut out a couple tracks to make up time Although still wet and slippery it was somewhat drier than the 1st leg. We zig-zagged our way north right to Bunyah for refuelling which was kindly hidden in the bush by a mate of mine along with with a few snacks…thanks Pete !

3rd Leg, Bunyah to Stroud 63klms

Proceeded to make our way South West through Wang Wauk State Forest encompassing some more great trails. Popped out onto Manning Hill Road and proceeded to Upper Markwell and ducked into the next adjacent section of forest which got nice and wet in few spots. Raced up Little River Trail to Cabbage Tree. George and his fat a#@e managed to get another rear puncture…get some heavy duty tubes mate ! Ended up popping out of single track in the dark, which was something different just outside of Stroud. Arrived at the pub just after 1800. Big Day, great ride. Total of 203 klms

Littswood has some video footage and I think Polly400 took a couple of photos which they should hopefully post up.

Good concise report Wally. I have ridden through Bunya and Manning Hill myself on my NX and thought to myself that there had to be some good trail riding around there. Some good hills around there no doubt.

    Hey Wally Boy

I am sorry I missed the day. Sounds like you had a ball. I would have been thanking George for some R & R on the trail. I presume George is the George we both know! If so it would be typical for George to have two flats in a session – always doing things to the max.

One of your normal rides ending in the darkness. Aren’t those enduro headlights just wonderful when the sun goes down, may as well have a box of matches. I still remember the time you lead us out of Bulahdelah at 4pm on our way back to Stroud with a couple of locals – we ended up doing trails in the dark – why not add a little more thrill factor to the day.

A ride with Wally Boy is always a great and full day out. Sorry I couldn’t be there.

As you said – Next Time.

    Nice Shots Polly 400.

Particularly like the shot of Wally Boy cuddling up next to his Pumpkin. What was his excuse, conserving energy?

I think your references to Dave might be to George.

It would have been a great ride.

New kick starter and battery fitted ,

What a let down, first ride (other than up the road and back) after a rebuild, and 1 snapped kick-start lever.
Thanks to big Wally boy/Nic for clutching the bike.
that mtb bike i brought must be doing the job!

I have a mate who owns a pushy shop and will do you a deal if you want to lose a bit mate
