good one,
Ill keep an eye out for old bull stickers Chris,
dont wory about the 900 bikes mate, the organzers don’t let them all go at once and plenty of times you ride with hardly any bikes as you can leave over a couple of hours, Its less hassle than you think…..unless it rains.September 15, 2009 at 11:59 pm #152940chris72a wrote:

September 22, 2009 at 1:23 pm #153837Seriously It was really good…
We arrived on friday arvo around 5.30pm setup camp we had a great spot overlooking the valley where the hobbits were camping. It was a seriously funny bunch of guys I was with. We started out early saturday with some singles/twin/firetrail riding for about 30kms before we stumbled along the course which turned out to be the first loop for the sunday ride. We rode this and mucked about a bit, awesome riding, lots of singles I’ve never ridden before, nice tight narly stuff. Sunday saw us ready early with our bikes lined up at the start with only about 10 bikes in front of us, by the time we started there was probably nearly 50. They let us go spot on at 8.30. The first section was basically open firetrail until we hit the singles, fairly dusty in the middle of the pack but once you got some distance it was O.K. The first loop was approx 80kms of all types of terrain, there was 3 hard/easy choices along the way, I did the first hard but took the next 2 easy I was pretty rooted from the ride the day before and was suffering some serious arm pump.. Great fresh singles and twin trail, run over some poor bloke in the singles that had crashed in front of me, unfortunately it was over him or me into a tree I decided he was a bit softer. He was O.K. I think.
The second loop a bit shorter at 50kms but rocky as hell, I would say 40-50% of it was riding in rocks which I hate there was a defined line through the rocks from the other riders but it was still hell. There was some decent single towards the end that made up for all the rocks but by that time I was too knackered to really enjoy it. All up a great weekend that I would gladly partake in again.
Cheers
Chris.September 23, 2009 at 8:29 am #153838We had a great ride too!
myself, sam (son) and Old Bloke went on saturday(I had to work nightshift so could only get there by sat lunch) and basically setup camp, went thru scutineering and had a look around before settling down to some ales.
first loop was fast paced, but some problems with sams gear selector held us up and let alot of field run past. some bush mechanic work saw us on the trail again. tried all hard sections, only taking the short cut on one hill that had about 50 bikes waiting to get up.
good mix of singles and open stuff.second loop after lunch had more tight singles and rocks, lots of rocks.once again rode all hard sections including one downhill that was a murph special. steeep and twisting .
sam connected with a rock which saw his gear lever bent back and under, facing the wrong way.alas no spare. he limped back to camp.usual dopes who think its a race for sheepstations and want to push you off tracks or out of corners. saw one of these types pulling his bike out of a tree moments later  karma.
judging from numbers drawn at prize draw there was about 850-900 entrants. although trails were not overcrowded or chewed out.
we heard of a few injuries including a broken leg.
good job by organisers with some new safety checkpoints during ride being a new innovation after last years search for missing riders.
will go next year if able.

September 24, 2009 at 1:31 am #151681Yeah i think they kept it straight forward this year in case it rained, hedging bets maybe.
Morgo how did you like the rock sections? we rode through them on the saturday and rocks the sizes of house bricks everywhere. But they cleared out on sunday.
Was good to see plenty of Girls riding, i think there was 8 in total.
And the bloke dressed as a clown how rode it on a postie bike was a legend, probably the most roosted rider of the day and well deserved the award he got at the end.
