Thought maybe I would share a few updates (Two videos, before and after the Simpson) from some suspension testing I have been involved with in Sydney at Tekniks after our recent unsupported double Simpson crossing. When we had the WRs full of fuel with the big Rotopax full on the rear the bike handled great. After about an hr at the pace we were riding (We did the east 2 west crossing in under 9 and half hours riding, 11hrs total) the rear seemed to loose its dampening to a point as seen in the actual ride video. I was supposed to take a heat gun on the ride to get some figures for Nick but I forgot in the rush to get going on the day we left. I was able to report to Nick that the sticker on the side of the shock could be moved around on the glue. After a 10min break the dampening seemed to be better for a while and then get worse again when we got into it again. In the video you will see Nick cooling the shock in a parts washer after a dyno run to 140 degrees and how the shock responded at 40, 60, 100 and 140 degrees temp. I rode with the new shock setting on the weekend and its seemed better and didn’t change at all, but it isn’t the desert.
