All`s Good with this product.
Easy to install, following the instructions sheet supplied (that`s if ya bother with em:laugh: )
Thanks Again Mal & Sutto`s for the great deal & continued support of Old Bulls;)Here is the info I posted in the group buy thread,,,
Now have em wired up, working and yes the hands are nice & warm
Left it running on the low setting for a solid 5 mins before the left grip heated enough to notice with bare hands (would have been good to insulate the bar first , as a lot of the heat is transferred into the bars first ) The throttle tube, being plastic, is almost instantaneous warmthI have temporarily wired the power lead straight from the battery at present, till I am 100 % happy with the test ride on Monday,,,, I also need to get to work to use the heat gun to shrink all the heatshrink on the cable connections etc
One point to note is , the positioning on the WHITE RESISTOR, as it gets F@%#&*@G HOT So be careful to keep it away from other important cables & plastic parts!!!
Mine is cable tied to a small steel bar on the bottom of the headlight assembly, where it will also get tonnes of fresh cool air whilst on the move

Didn`t even give it a thought yesterday, now my new grips are on (without glue) so some compressed air should get them off without damage,,,,,

Very toasty. Very happyI spliced into the thick red wire to the ignition. note: I got no idea of lectrix. I earthed into the clutch switch. Note: if you earth into the bar or triple clamp, you may arc through the headstock bearings: not good
I roughed up the steel bar (and removed the old glue)
I decided to fit some shrink tubing to help insulate between the bar and the heater
I had a collection of short heat shrink tubing (about an inch long). I decided to go with the Italian flag. (this model NX was made in 1talia.
Note: I have not used glue. I am trialling this set up with just tie wire. This is the NX. If you are fitting this to a real dirt bike. Glue them on!!!
I heat shrunk them on, cleaned them with metho. And stuck on the heating pads.
The right side has a plastic throttle tube so there was no need to insulate
The switch. I placed that on the gps mount I made up prior
The business side
I removed the paint from the hands guards and fitted them up too

I will have to get ours on before Nundle.
I am a little bit dubious of the switch that is supplied with the grip warmers – as far as water resistance that is. I am thinking of going to the wreckers and trying to get an old school headlight switch off-low-high and mounting to the bars – thats if I can fit it on.

Anonymousi’m worried about that too. one would have to assume that the switch would be rain proof.:dry:
July 5, 2009 at 12:10 pm #142312Champo they may recommend the headlight circuit due to it being designed to handle current flow, and the key switch is not designed for any real current flow which is why key circuits switch relays and the likes to avoid high draw which can and does burn switch contacts.
The manufacturer I am sure would have thought and tested this before they recommended you do it that way, they couldnt have people having weak headlights because of what they said could they, long and short it will be all right for your head light. If it was mine I would wire it of my battery with a fuse to the switch, which I reckon would be fine in the rain ( I teach basic electrical theory and trouble shooting, heavy duty electrics and electronic engine controls and systems as well as 23 years in the trade) in my opinion

so everyone out there in webland. beware of any electrical set up done by methere are other reasons i chose the wire to the key is
one is… going by the very blury wirng diagram i have. the thick red wire i spliced into is straight from the battery via a 20amp fuse. and before the ignition switch.your advice is appreciated. give us a ring on my mobile when you have time.

My plastic Toggle switch snapped off this morning (internally), so I grabbed a stainless steel one from Bias Boating this arvo, much stronger,,,,

Be careful of the little white resistor (besides getting hot) Mine is now broken out of the loop:huh: :dry: :unsure:
Was heating the heatshrink I installed on saturday, removed the cablet ie holding the resistor to the headlight assebmby & whammo , it fell free from the tiny wire that it was attached to:(It`s a 10W 2RJ White resistor,,,,, What can I do now to replace it I wonder ??? Any suggestions???
The heaters worked so well too!!!!
