now it seems fine. and yamaha australia now boasts that the new models have a new upgraed charging system. for extra fun!!! extra fun because the bike starts again after 40mins now.

I remember that problem well – Kylie’s TTR230 had the same problem – funny how a Yamaha f**k up has became a feature now.

But to give Yamaha credit they did fix Kylie’s even though it was out of warranty.

racy and i pointed out to yamaha. what was yamaha going to do when she is trapped in some wet valley somewhere deep in the bush overnight because her yamaha has a fault? (note: no kick starter)

they finally took the problem serious and fixed it.

and only after we documented that after a couple of months the bike spent more time in the bike shop then at our house.

we also told them towards the end that we didn’t want the bike back until it was fixed.

it also appears that the magazine tests were revealing the same problem.

to fraser motorcycles credit. the head mechanic persisted with yamaha to fix the problem.

    interesting note:
the bike also turned up without a muffler. then it turn out to be last year’s model. they, chris watson mc, fixed that too.

you are making life tough for me dand; fitting princess’ bike with heated grips
racy has mentioned again that heated grips would be nice

So, How is everyone finding their new Heated Hand Grips?????

I orginally thought that the electrics on the TTR-230 won’t cope with the extra load but I am starting to think that some of my issues with my hands getting pins & needles all the time when riding that a bit of heat now & then might help stop some of the pain…..

How did the guys & girls at Nundle find them?

Tracy the TTR230 will handle the grip heaters all day no problem. They only draw low current and are wired if you follow the instructions from the lighting circuit. They can also be wired of the battery, no worry it will work fine now Champo has looked after himself and the NX has a set tell him to get you a set

Tracy, I found the grip heaters great. Although they were a bit hot on the high setting so I just kept mine on low.

They became more invaluable after my dip in the river. Only 1 hand got wet but later on when it started to cool down I popped them on high and it made it really comfortable for me. Otherwise I think that my hand would have been freezing.

I don’t think that under normal circumstances I would use them that much but for Nundle they were good.

In regards to your pins and needles check that you are not holding on too tight. I know that when I do that my hands do get the pins and needles and start to ache. I also get really bad callouses which is not real pirty looking so I just try not to hold on too much.

I also learnt that if you hold on too hard you can get a lot more vibration through your body.

But when it comes to the grip heaters they don’t really cost that much and although you might not use them all that much just having them there just in case is really good.

Imagine having them on the Caves to Caves ride. How good would that have been?

I think your right Kylie, I think I do hang on too tight, so I will need to concentrate on that when I’m out next – Thanks!

The grip heaters would have been sooo great on the Caves ride & I am also not sure how often I would normally use them. Champo has just put new grips on my bike yesterday so I might wait a bit before making a decision…..
