Thank you Kind Sir, it is quite amazing how much of a difference a bike that suits you changes your riding, steering dampner best investment ever. Wr too soft in suspension would have had too spend at least 1500 to sort out, power was nice for singles but not for the open stuff. Kato 400 is the “BEST BIKE IN THE WORLD”

Nick biggest benefit I can see of the berg is you won’t have to play round with jetting. I have the Kato jetted nicely now but it took some time.

In fairness Chris the jetting was no hassle the dealer gave you the specs and the jets etc, the time was you getting around to doing it  I saw two Bergs fail fuel injection units one way or another at the 4 day  would that make me rethink a Berg I dont know. Saw a lot of Huskies fail fuel injection units at the 4 day wouldn’t buy one of those :(

The damper is a great investment and the Kato is the world best submarine  but remember no matter what you ride the more you ride the better you will be for it

Ring Sutto’s Chris ask for Daniel tell him you are an old bull and you dont want any shit  47379566

I like the 400 for me I think it would be a hell of a good compromise in all conditions and reckon I could ride it faster all day. That said I do like a big bore  That 690 Sutto rode :) A 530 like Mal at Sutto’s just setup ;)

    XR650 will do

Will do… As I told him just tire kicking at the moment.. I probably wont be ready for a few months and will most likely get second hand.. If the right one shows itself before hand I may jump though.. I want to ride few flavors before I try and convince the minister of finance that for “safety” reasons I need new bike.. :woohoo:

It’s good to hear all the opinions on KTM and berg. They are the two bikes I have been looking at for some time now . One day it’s KTM the next berg! Whatever it ends up being I’m sure it will be an eye opener after the drz!

Here are the comments I got from the Trailzone Mag guys when I asked them about stepping up from the DRZ.

    Jeff,
Thanks for your email. Truth-be-known I’d have probable advised you try the Sherco first after reading what you want in a 450. Unfortunately (for you) all the current 450s are fairly hard charging competition-based machines (compared to DRZs) and all require much more stringent tool-time than the DRZ. We often have feedback from DRZ400 riders that have ponied-up for a 450 only to find they become tired too quickly and are disappointed with the low speed grunt and bottom end chugging ability of the 450s, again when compared to their old faithful DRZ. But that aside I do have some advise you may ponder over prior to making a new-bike decision: Test ride all the bikes you can, certainly test ride the WRF and TE Husky! Though I think you’ll find most all of the 450s have very comparable power delivery. After that, if you’re still disappointed, or over-whelmed by these machines, consider sticking with the DRZ.
    Cheers,
    Dr Phil.

cool info Jeffro.. When I spoke to Suttos, Daniel said something similar about the body taking a pounding riding the 450 compared to riding the 400.. I also found quite interesting that the ktm 400 is more expensive than the 450.. It was mentioned that KTM brought the same quantity of bikes, 450 and 400 into the country for 2010.. all the 400’s are gone and hard to come by lots of 450s around..
