AnonymousWith having parents like my kids have it is inevitable that they would want a bike at some stage. Taylah was the first to show some interest in bikes asking when she could have one. I told her that she needed to save up her money like I had to so she could get a bike. Taylah started saving and was starting to make some progress in her bike buying pursuit, but when Mick advertised the PW80 just before Christmas it was too good a deal to pass up. So the PW ended up being bought for Taylah. (I wish my parents had of been able to do the same for me).
Moose transported the PW from Micks to TB’s for a pre Christmas spruce up. I met TB at the Pie in the Sky late last month and picked up the now made over bike.
There was some unpleasantness in my parents back yard with me playing silly buggers on the poor little PW. Only damage was a bit of a scratched exhaust on the bike and a big dented ego on me.
Taylah was so surprised on Christmas morning to find her bike waiting for her. I haven’t seen her smile so much and talk about “her” bike all of Christmas day.
I have never seen Taylah this happy
A few laps around the yard where in order Christmas morning
But because Taylah had NEVER ridden a bike before, a solo ride around the yard was not deemed to be a real good idea at this stage.
UNTIL TODAY
Because of all the rainy weather that we have had since Christmas we haven’t been able to get the bike out of the shed for Taylah to have a go. Taylah wanted to ride her bike badly so we took a trip up to MX Central today so she could have a blat. When we arrived old mate said because of the track conditions and Taylah being green as green with riding we would be better off not getting the bike off trailer. Like this was going to happen……
Old mate said we were welcome to go and have a walk on the track to see if we wanted to let her have a go. We walked the track and it wasn’t too bad, bit soft under foot but Taylah wasn’t going home without riding her bike today.
When walking back to get the car I walked past a bloke sitting down, he looked at me and I looked back at him. Then I looked again and bugger me it was a cousin of mine that I haven’t seen for about six years. I asked him what he was doing there and he said he actually works at MX Central. After having a bit of a chat and a look at his bike (which by the way is a Yammie) we moved down to the flat track area to get Taylah ready for her first ride.
My cousin Tom and meThe rain kept coming down but that wasn’t going to dampen Taylah’s enthusiasm to get out on her bike.
Taylah getting ready to ride
Checking out the track conditions
Someone is using your number TB
The mighty PW80
First ever ride, only two little stacks but straight back onto the bike and kept going
Dirty knees was the only damage
Having a rest back at the car
Another young Old Bull
Second time out and Taylah ventured a bit further from the little track and found second gear as well
This bike needs a trip to the magic cornerTaylah only got out for 3 goes on the track (due to the way things are run at MX Central) but all in all she was a very happy girl with FINALLY getting to ride her bike all by herself.
I think another little KylieD has been created, with Taylah absolutely having a ball on her bike and wanting to go back again tomorrow to go for a ride.
The look on her face on both Christmas morning and today was priceless. Her enthusiasm today re kindled some of the enthusiasm that I have lost lately for riding and had me wanting to get back on the bike and go for a ride.
And another thing that made today great was when my little girl gave me a kiss goodnight and said thanks for today dad.January 3, 2010 at 10:16 am #166860Great job Dan, the look on her face makes it all so worth while

AnonymousYeah she might have only had 3 goes at it but she said she was absolutely buggered by the end of them  She really needs to work on her ride stamina
She did fall off twice and I was really pleased (read surprised) when she got up and was happy to get back on and going again. I asked her if it hurt when she fell off and she said no. I told her that’s because of all the protective gear that she had on.
Before she went on for her second go she asked me what if she fell off again. I told her if she didn’t fall off then she wasn’t trying hard enough. Daniel gave me the most filthiest of looks when I said that but someone told me that once and I always try and stick to it.
I really enjoyed watching all of the bikes on the flat track. It was amazing to see some of the speeds that not only the big bikes were doing but the real little kids as well. I couldn’t believe the speeds that they were doing and when it looked like it was all going to s@#t they just kept the throttle on and powered through it.
I know that Daniel is now planning a day up there on the 450 as I caught all of his longing looks at the track.
But all in all it was a great day and I am so happy that Taylah enjoyed herself. She just needs to get a heap more practice in now.
January 3, 2010 at 10:19 am #166862Freaking awesome!!!! :woohoo: She looks like one happy girl.
I can still remember the look on Connor’s face the Xmas day he got it too!!
Cheers guys, glad I could help out and that the bike has gone to a good home after TB’s big effort at reserecting it after it sat unused and unloved in my shed this past year.

January 3, 2010 at 10:42 am #166893It can go over the brake but had suffered some love with its previous owner and kinks when over the top.

Best go to a Yamaha dealer and have a look at another PW. I dunno it seems to be sticking out funny. Like it could catch on something. I meant to mention it earlier but forgot.
