What a mission! Arrived home at 6pm last night after 2450 kms on the mighty NX650!! Would have loved, just to sit down and reflect on the ride with a beer but it was a mad rush to make our 6.30 reservation at a restaurant in Port Macquarie. So not much of a report yet as I haven’t up loaded my pics to photo bucket yet.

I am still knackered! The rear shock decided to drop all its oil in the first 400 kms of the trip, so the next 2000 kms were like riding a pogo stick fully loaded at speed, as there was no rebound or compression dampening what so ever. This alone made for a very “entertaining” trip. Well it was entertaining for anyone that saw me trying to ride it I am sure! Not to mention the miss the engine developed at 4200rpm for the last 800 kms, that I did nothing about, as Toes made the big claim that he would fling me an extra $50 if I didn’t put a spanner to the NX for the whole trip. Time to pay up TOES!

AS for you Eags, suggesting that it was the NX that had stopped! I hope that at some stage over Easter you bit your tounge !

A big thanks to TB plotting the route and leading, a big thanks to Salina for putting us up and thanks to Kram and Pete for some very entertaining moments!

More report to come as time allows!

No doubt you will know Mick’s NX blew a shock seal

Kram ripped in at my place and changed his rear tyre as I had grabbed one for him and Mick from ADV moto

Mick decided he wouldn’t do his, he was lucky there wasn’t any rain ad he saw half an inch of rain on the clay down there and  the Midas completed the whole trip in the end, here it is at the start

    A few refreshments were had

I would like to thank the following on behalf of OBT as we (OBT) were asked to help with this event. We lead, swept and provided support vehicles and trailers. The guys and gals below were asked along to help, some got to ride but they knew they had a lot to do

Clare for driving Boulders 4×4 towing a trailer, being on the radio and always smiling
Boulder for sweeping and helping with bikes etc evening after the days riding was well and truly over and carrying a radio
Deejay was always helpful, towed a trailer behind his 4×4 picked stuff up for peeps and was always super helpful very helpful on the radio when we were leaving a stop and when I was left on my own stopped on long plain rd :cheer:
Lauren Deejays better half for coming along, helping Deejay was great having her along
Pete the postman wolf carried a UHF radio which was super helpful and was always lending a hand when required and had a sweep to give Kram a break
Kram carried a radio, swept and carried tyre levers and displayed patience all ride as the sweeps sometimes travelled very very slowly

    c9333933.jpg

I had a great time, being asked to lead this ride was special the 3 days driving around down there pre running and checking the route was fun. Watching guys like Andy get out of his wheel chair and ride all day was amazing how he made it through sections he did not to mention how FAST he was  Pezz on the big 460/4 getting along (well until Pete broke it :P ) was awesome.
It was a very busy weekend even when the riding was done fixing bikes, getting stuff setup and doing bits and bobs but so worth while and again thanks to everyone that pitched in and helped.
I fixed a postie (twice  ) BMWs, SR, XR, Steve’s 4×4 :P , exhaust on the super Ten, racks on a GT. Rode Pezz’s 460/4 pre Pete breaking the mascot bike :P we traveled some beautiful trails and tracks and some very awesome fast tracks on the way home including Long Plain Rd which is always a fav
I kept running out of rear brakes on the Tenere because the fluid is ten plus years old  and boiled as soon as you looked at the brake twice  I had to cool it a few times but it added to the adventure like Micks shock

I enjoyed the big Tenere, thanks to Steve for lending it to me

Well I had a cracker of a ride.

Made it home at about 6.45 pm after another awsome day on the bike. And while I’m really glad to be home and missed my family heaps, I’d love to keep going for another day or two

A big thanks to all the good folk at Down Syndrome NSW and Pezz for all your work to make this a top event. I felt privileged to be apart and contribute in a small way to the event.

Top work TB and Steve from Adventure Moto for working out the route etc. Steve also went above and beyond in his support by donating heaps of fantastic prizes for the raffle draw.

Thanks heaps to Salina and TB for putting us up and feeding us all.

I had a great time sweeping with Boulder. It’s always tops riding with you and it was great to meet your better half. That’s not Fish by the way

Loved the ride with team OBT back to Sydney. We punched out some big hours along some fantastic tracks and it’s always a pleasure to ride with you blokes ;)

More to come later when I can get thoughts together.

    Day 2

Pete’s posty required some surgery, so TB and him got in and gave her a carbyectemy

    DSC02880.jpg

    DSC02881.jpg

That may have caused his problem. A bowl full of crap.

    Day 3

Gotta give it to TB, if he cant fix it, it is stuffed. Here he is doing his best to fix Pete’s back wheel after it broke 11 spokes from continued abuse.

    DSC02902.jpg

There was plenty of postie bikes on the ride. Check out the pimpin’ pipe on this one!

    DSC02903.jpg

    The three Amigos’, palatial lodging.

    DSC02906.jpg

    Day 4

Yep, pretty sure that’s frost there TB.

    DSC02907.jpg

Stopped to take in the views.

    DSC02909.jpg

Just to prove that the NX made it.

    DSC02910.jpg

Milking fuel from Kram’s Pasha Bulka for the NX

    DSC02913.jpg

The Big Tenere ran out of fuel on the freeway in Canberra, so TB had to milk the other Tanker that Pete was riding.

    DSC02914.jpg

TB always has 2 GPS units, just in case one fails. After that you break out the trusty old poor mans GPS. A Map.

    DSC02915.jpg

At 10pm we rolled into what appears to be somewhere in Bangkok. I was pretty glad to see the Penrith Pizza shop!

    DSC02916.jpg

    #219526

Looks like it was one big rolling party. Would be interested in a report on the Big Ten TB. They do look like a nice beast.

So much like Bangkok there are a number of establishments upstairs from this pizza shop where you can get a special “Thai massage”, but I’m sure you already know that. ;)

Its Steve’s bike and we have named it Elle (as in like Elle Macpherson) shes old, looks sexy and is a great ride  the last bit I can only vouch for the bike part. Its very fast and lots of fun

A detailed write will follow soon I just have to get my Tenere ready for the APC 4 day rally in less than 9 days and jam some work in as well

Neither GPS failed, sometimes you just need to get a map out to get your own bearings if that makes sense. Its like the GPS is telling you one thing and you internal compass is telling you another

I did fix it  it is straight and true its just that Pete was offered Pezz’s bike for the saturday loop. It was a mission relacing it short 13 spokes but  (two broke as I was working on it :( ) the idea was to get it mobile and it is if it was all he had

    Elle!!

GOLD. That sums her up nicely TB.

I didn’t suggest you didn’t fix the postie…… I was amazed with what you achieved with what you had to work with! :)

Just received an SMS from Joe aka Buckscreek.

Yesterday afternoon he crashed the Scare Chair into the armco at 90KPH as he was coming onto the southern end of M7 at Liverpool. He isnt sure what happened.

He was knocked around a bit – Helmet has a BIG split in it! But he is hoping to go home from Liverpool Hospital Tomorrow?? His duaghetrs boyfriend Luke was in the chair at the time and has a broken hip, which is being fixed, and no other injuries.

All will be OK in time. A real shame as we were having so much fun. Will retreive the wreck and build it again for Scrapheap 2013.

It was great to see Joe at the event this year as he has been to all 3, Get well soon Buddy!!!!

Geez that’s no good Pezz. Let’s hope that Luke has a speedy recovery. It really lived up to the Scare Chair name.
