G’day all,
Had my first good ride on my 300EXC on the weekend in “variable conditions”
and have found the work done by Teknik to be fantastic.
I decided to give my ’08 a bit of an update as selling the bike with low hours at it’s age and in this market – not to my liking. So with the $6000 saved on buying a new one I spent lees than $1000 and am very happy with the results with some left over spending money for things like chains and sprockets :woohoo:
So I took advantage of the July discount even though I would have normally done this in the summer off season. Boxed up the forks and shock and off they went. Despite the courier company f*&^g up and taking 5 days to deliver the units it took Teknik only a day to service, modify and test my bouncers. Next day they were in my hands again. I had the forks revalved (same springs) and a new fandangled spring at the rear with new oil all round. The spring is designed to make the shock more progressive kind of like what linkages would do.
From the initial settings the bike handled great. Bouncing on the forks at rest showed that they were indeed dampening early in the stroke rather than feeling soft then harsh from new. There was no fear that they were going to be harsh out riding as they soaked up everything off the get go. At Sunny Corner the rocks are hard to miss so a couple of clicks less compression halfway through the day made the front even nicer. Arm pump didn’t come into play which was great and a new experience for me! On braking bumps and square edges the back wheel stayed on the ground. I guess the most amazing realisation that things were working was following other bikes that at times kicked/bounced it’s rider in front of me, I squinted for my turn to do the same – but it never happened. Funny enough I was then making an effort to hit stuff harder to see what I could get away with. I’m impressed. White Rocket following me said the rear tracked great so I’m pretty sure he has a spring on order already.
So in conclusion, I’m happy with the results. My circumstances gave me the opportunity to spend some money to update the ride. The fork and shock oil were well and truly shagged so why not get someone to work their magic I thought. A good investment and an excellent outcome. Leanne and Evil Rudy were great to speak to and knew what I was after.
Thanks Teknik! Thumbs up!

August 9, 2011 at 11:19 pm #206726… actually Mr. chris72a it would be better to get a couple of hundred Ks on your new bike BEFORE you bring it to us. We get better results knowing what you do and don’t like about your bike than a good guess.

August 10, 2011 at 3:10 am #206734AND, thank you axel. Its nice to see outcomes like this. I can honestly say I have never worked in a place where everyone rows in the same direction. Makes the days go fast and every conversation with customers a pleasure.
Its also nice to have a boss that will not cut corners and only wants (and expects) happy customers. TB’s right, Nick will go out of his way to rectify an issue even if the the receiver may not deserve it. Its not necessarily to keep a “reputation” so much as its pride in the work produced.
And pride used in this situation is a good thing.
I’ll stop now before I need a frickn’ hug.
ER out.
