Did the right thing by the Tenere after last weekend.

Parked her nice and cosy in the garage all week until today when I could give her the attention needed.

Wheeled her out, washed all the mud off. Clean air filter, change oil, adjust and lube chain (no need to change rear pads, thanks Lefty) polish till I could see my baldy head in the swingarm and then pressed the starter.

She turns over but won’t start.

I can here fuel pump going, all lights are on, but no starty.

What have I done? (I told you Lefty, as a mechanic I make a great glazier).

Cycle the key and hop and down on one foot. Wring the excess oil out of the air filter, drink two beers, have a straight rum and try it again ;) Put the battery on the jumper leads to the car and crank it, it will go ;)

Ring me if that doesn’t start Champ ;)

    TB,

Not so sure about the two beers and the rum, on top of what I have already had tonight, and therefore hopping about on one leg was completely out of the question, but wringing out the air filter seemed to do the trick.

I cranked her until there was a hint of a spark. Left it for a couple of minutes, tried again and hey presto!

    Thanks Mate!

Make sure when you re-oil the air filter, you allow time for the fumes from the filter oil to dissipate .
If you don’t allow it 10 minutes or so, this will certainly stop the Tenere starting.

The only time mine has not started , is when I have rushed this part of the process.
    Hope this helps,
    Tenere Shane
