Can any one tell me how to tell if the cush drive rubbers need replacing.

I know it’s a bit of an issue on the Ten, and I’m not sure how old the existing rubbers are. I was going to change them when I get a new rear tyre, which will be just before the Snowy nav ride, but I won’t if I don’t need to.

    Thanks

You need to check for free play Wigster. Get the back wheel off and see if there is any rotaional free play in there. You could try checking with the wheel on as well but it may be harder to determine as the axel bolt/nut will have it in tension which may hide it.

With the wheel on the ground and the bike out of gear grab the sprocket and try to rotate it backwards and forwards (Direction of rotation and backwards) see how much movement you have. You have the double row bearing mod done to that cush hub (I fitted it after Nick machined it) The rubbers you had then I looked at and they will be fine I can assure you. At the High Country ride I will double check and show you. (I will have a care package for you also so don’t do anything at this stage ;) )

Forgot you had the double bearing mod hey Wiggy ?

That will no doubt save your rubbers and all the testing has been done by the Big Kahuna ;)
    Nice work once again TB

Thanks Guys. Yes I forgot about that mod TB. All good then.

I know I said I wouldn’t, but the sound of the twin Barratts through the harbour tunnel means I have just had to commute on the bike. Bloody awsome noise.

The other thing I have noticed is that people hear you coming and don’t change lanes on you as much. An important safety feature, as explaiined the the wife when she saw the invoice.

I am only on my second set Wigster, bikes done 29000 now and I don’t have the mod done, still works, but what would I know

I do have a set in the shed though, maybe I should re-place them on the next tyre change  :P
