In an order to use some Rox risers I had bought some time ago I need to re-route the cables under the tank to gain a couple of inches in length.
I now have the tank off all bar the important bit :pinch: but I am unsure as to whether or not fuel is going to piss out of it when I disconnect it completely. There are two electrical type conections plus a third connection which I assume is the fuel line and stupidly I started this little exercise with the tank 2/3 full.
The position of the tank as it sits now is more or less 2 or 3 inches higher than it would normally sit on the bike just enough to kind of see whats going on so I am worried when I disconnect the bikes going to get a petrol bath.
Feel free to laugh at my mechanical ability but am a little concerned I might burn the shed down so some advice would be appreciated.
Cheers James
August 24, 2013 at 6:18 am #248559As we spoke at the airport mate fuel won’t leak out. I will take a few pictures tomorrow morning and show you how to discount the line (special clip and safety) and where I routed my cables

August 24, 2013 at 7:29 am #248567Tb is spot on james, you may get a little bit of a dribble as you disconnect it but dont panic its just the little bit of fuel sitting in the line. You can always put a rag underneath to catch any dribbles so they dont leak over the motor etc.
Your yami is most likely to have the two sided push type connector with a slide lock that you will have to raise before you can push the buttons in to remove, similar to first example in vid below.

Just dont do it while smokin a fat cigar
Have fun

Thanks a lot TB,
While the bike is in pieces I think I will go the whole hog and get some new bling handlebars and heated grips, that Lithgow ride was cold. l am also keen on getting a damper after Plommer rd   and it might as well be now cause I don’t want to dismantle the bike again, not something I excel at  :blush:Don’t think Steve still sells the dampers does he?As for handlebars I think I read you got yours at Suttos if so would you mind letting me know what to get and I will do a little shopping.
Cheers James
August 24, 2013 at 7:52 am #248570The first one on squiggles first video is the one but you have to remove the safety clip first (green) 90 degree looking thing. It is just there to stop the clip buttons getting pushed as such
As far the damper goes speak with Steve he is importing a heap of Tenere parts as I type this and I know there are steering dampers under bar mounts for the Teneres in the order. Be warned you have o drill the steering lock bolts (seedy job I maybe able to help you out there)
Bars I will find out which ones I have and let ou know tomorrow mate

August 24, 2013 at 7:52 am #248572Thanks Mr Squiggle,
I really don’t have much of a clue about riding or the mechanical side of things :blush:Thankfully others on OBT are more than willing to give some help to the likes of me
August 24, 2013 at 7:54 am #248560I’d let her fix my bike………. I would have to have a beer and supervise of course

Hey james, I had heated grips on a street triple, super convenient but when you sell the bike you have to go again and if it gets really cold they dont really cut it. I just bought a set of heated gerbings gloves and jacket liner for rides like lithgow, much better that heated grips IMO used them on the wauchope ride twice. Little bit fiddly but absolutely great for keeping warm. I think ADVmoto sells heated gear as well. Others may be able to comment on those products.

Not sure Squiggle but do you plug that clothing into your bike cause I don’t even have any power outlets on my bike yet, which reminds me I need to get the GPS hardwired also.
This is becoming a looong to do list
Have tried thicker gloves in the past but struggled with the lack of feel on the controls, maybe the ones you speak of aren’t that thick and rely more on the heat
Either way it looks like I shall be paying ADV Moto a visit next week in regard to dampers and see what he has got in the way of keeping my hands warm on the colder rides
After the weather we had in Sydney today staying cool will be more of a concern shortly anyway
James
August 24, 2013 at 8:54 am #248578Thats correct james, heated gear replaces think layers and comes with wire harness that takes 10 minutes to install. I put one on each bike so I can swap and change and stay warm

You could try some of these Giant Loop “Hand guards” from Adventure Moto, i used them on the recent Nav ride and they do a good job of keeping the wind off you hands
August 24, 2013 at 9:46 am #248561They are massive
Can you feel them on the road at speedAugust 24, 2013 at 10:01 am #248583I fall over too often TR  Don’t think those would last long on my bike
