After speaking with the tenere guys I have put together the mods I did to the bike for the Simpson Desert:

Single Barrett Muffler – Great, but looks a bit unbalanced
Kev Mod – added about 1HP
AIS Mod – not sure if this made a difference
Opened airbox – though put snorkel back for trip
Mitas EO9 Enduro
HD tubes
slime
HD shock spring
HD fork spring
power socket
B&B rack
B&B bashplate
Andy straps gear plus frame
side stand kill switch disconnected
Dropped footpegs
Mirror extenders
left bars untouched
barkbusters with exta weights – excellent
Bigger screen – excellent

After trip
Highway pegs
crashbars – to buy
shorten numberplate mount – to do
drill hole in take to speed filling – to do

Great work Jim!

If I wasn’t so short and prone to lying down, I would have made the Tenere choice!
When is your Simpson visit? Great fun out there!

Yeh, was out there last August Dejay – certainly was an experience of a lifetime, and if you ride all the way out there your bike has to be a compromise between something comfortable for the transport leg and something you can throw over the dunes!!
