On one of my first rides on the Tenere the rear suspension compressed so much when I hit an erosion channel that it smashed (and I mean SMASHED) the tail on my bike. Indicators, reflector, number plate and mouldings – everything busted and totally unusable. I’ve since wound up the rear suspension and reduced that problem.

I manufactured a temp set-up which I probably used for too long and it broke on the last ride (fair bit of vibration going on back there).

I’ve seen the European replacements, which won’t suit our numberplates and my exhausts (Leo Vince). Does anyone know of another commercially available replacement or some ideas on a home made one that works?

    cheers

When I was in a carpark overlooking Strahan and had mid life hoon moment, without realising the tourances would bite… resulting in a stationary backflip, I too disintegrated my tail section. $140 for he whole shebang from local Yamaha dealer and attacking it with a dremel and its nice and tidy again.

Thanks Crow, but they won’t do the job, as the indicators would get burnt by the Leo Vince cans. The one I made up has not lasted so I think I’m going to have to pull the whole thing apart and model another one myself, perhaps with an alloy bracket. It might look a little secondhand but at least it will work.

    cheers
