In hind sight, here is a small bitch… The LCD speedo is Grey back ground with black numbers, which to my aging eyes a bit hard to see in a quick glance. I think the KTM orange background with black numbers on the 530 is easier to see.
I know it is nit picking but it is just my thoughts as an old bull.

The back light colour of the speedo can be varied from red > orange > yellow but you dont really see it in daylight + it goes off when the bike goes to sleep (15 secs).

Exactly yes, that’s why it’s so good.

Actually I have very fond memories of my XR270

I just say it for the response that’s all, when I would love to have a quick punt on your BMW at the Christmas party when you’re not looking

And i too have very fond memories of my MR50 and Cr250s, doesn’t mean I’d buy another honda though, very heavy bikes for their respective classes these days (except the new 450 MXer) & no smokers, just smoke & mirrors on that one.
Has the BMW got switchable ign maps or any other gadetry like that?
And Mick when you say the power is not here & now does this mean it has a lagging feel to it?, I have a couple of mates (yes just the two) that are in the market for big 4t enduro and haven’t even thought of the beemer.

I just thought in stock trim the bike could do with some tweeking of the gearing,to get a little bit more low down grunt.
For all other techie questions maybe we should look to Wikdbeemer as he is the proud owner of one.

I dont know about engine mapping but, it comes with a “power chip” which is just a plug with a wire loop (bridge) that gives the full 51hp, without it out hp drops by 10.
BJ and I have cut the loop and extended the wire so we have a switch on the bars for rabbit or tortise modes which will be handy in the wet so the bike can be tamed for the conditions.

The electronics seem to be all sealed black boxes so I don’t know whats possible for tweaking but also think there is no need with the 14t front sprocket on.
This bike was after all, designed for enduro racing and is pretty much ready for that out of the box.

How are you finding the seat? I sat on one the other night and it leaves my original GasGas 07 seat for dead as the hardest plank…

Better than I was expecting, just as good as the seat of the old DRZ.
The “lounge chair” feel of the DRZ is from the suspension and dead weight, not the seat being soft.

And I thought my 610 was nasty! Like riding a fence paling with engine. Time is softening it, or my ass has grown callouses. LOL.
