I just want to say a big THANK YOU to all that were involved in the little shing din last night.
Being my birthday this Tuesday I had 1 thing that I wanted to do and that was a ride in the hills of gold. Well the boys along with the misses had more ideas. Party straight after the ride.
Dam you people all I wanted to do after that ride was find my HOT bath.
No really guys THANK YOU it was a fun night and I think there is more valuable than gold in them hills, And that’s the Tamworth OBT crew. Awesome.
June 29, 2014 at 8:27 am #257968What a ride
Started in the balmy just above freezing temp at Nundle.
Off to the sweet trails and surprisingly warmer higher altitudes
Trail conditions excellent .
Boze had a track inspection in one of the water hazards , lovely save, restricting the damage to one boot full of freezing cold water
More great singles , everyone enjoyed the cracking paceUntil poor old Bollocks decided to get some trailside maintenance.. Poor old CR lost a bolt out of the footpegs, the seat securing bolts and had a flat front tyre. PPM (piss poor maint) Bols
Some time later we had the CR fixed and then back enroute to the Berry patch for lunchDown Parachute, some trail maintenence made the steep hill a dream ride then through the many creek crossings . :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
The uphill from the river saw some quick riding, everyone must have smelt the fine Berry Patch cusine
.
Lunch & refuelling the steads..
Andy gets a call about storms with hail over NundleHere the weather started to take a turn for the worst
The sun dissappeared and showers started to move in.
As we got closer to Nundle via them beaut singles, the sky got darker.
At fridge hill a few riders myself included baulked at the slippery conditions.
Sky got darker again, until then the rain started   :angry:We persisted with the singles for some distance until the conditions got worse.
OK guys lets take the main road back to town..The rain got heavier ,then turned into hail , bloody cold wet & being stung by hail , buger
After what seemed like forever we finally got out of the storm and arrived at Andys farm , what a great relief for cold riders.
A quick loading of bikes & dry clothes a quick celebration beer for Boze then of to town to the pub for more beer .. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
How lucky were we the town was blacked out :silly: :silly:
Unbeknowst to Boze there was a liitle surprise organised by his better half Brenda.
Then party party
Great days riding and apre riding.
Thanks to Snowy & Boony for leading, thanks to Damus for sweeping.
The girls for organising the after ride festivitiesHopefully some of the photos & vids will get posted…
June 29, 2014 at 8:32 am #257969Great day out Boze. It had everything sun, rain , hail, snow and some brilliant riding until the storms blew and froze us out of the mountains. Really fast pace led by Boony out to the Berry patch arriving momments before the skies opened and the rain poured down. Highlight of the morning for me was trapping Boze in the biggest roost of mud and dirty water I have ever delivered – damn near drowned him.
After a great feed, i led the boys out and spent most of the arvo finding ways over under and around fallen trees although i didn’t always pick the best route I admit. We had a prettty good run through the singles but the gathering black skies were looking like a real threat. Sure enough we got hit by a hail storm that went on for a fair while and between it and some accompanying rain the trails soon became slippery streams. The hail eased off long enough for the snow to start and the accompanying winds were breaking off branches making staying in the forest too dangerous to continue. We headed home very slowly into wild winds, hail rain and snow and froze us before dropping out of the mountains into a welcoming warm Nundle.
After post ride soft drinks we headed to the Nundle pub to warm up and deliver Boze right on time to his suprise birthday party and a great night of celebrations held largely in the dark due to the storms taking out the power. thank god beer need gas not power and the publican who dragged out the BBQ. Some very sorry looking boys (and wives) this morning all looking for coffee and sunglasses.
Top ride top night out and a great bunch of blokes as usual.
Nundle rocks even when it freezes your tits off
June 29, 2014 at 10:23 am #257978June 29, 2014 at 11:58 am #257980Nice work Snowy. Pep would have been proud of that effort.
June 29, 2014 at 11:07 pm #257970:laugh:
Great job Snow,,
Reminds me a bit of the time Jeffro got me in the Hills of Gold swamp :pinch:June 30, 2014 at 12:47 am #257971Like a KTM rider my report is a little slow coming in. (Just like on the way back to tamworth sherco in first. KTMS behind)
It was good to see Bollocks, House , Logan back riding with us. One thing I have learnt is when bollocks stops in a muddy bog hole not to stop behind. Now I drop back a gear go around quickly then roost as much as possible on the way out.

Boze had a swim in lake bollocks  . Missed it on the vid sorry all.
Also had the chance to get polly cautiously crossing a creek couldn’t help my self around past him quickly giving him a sherco shower. Karma soon got me though with a massive roost of mud kindly presented by Boonys 350   .
Arrived at the berry patch just in time before the heavens opened up. Even the local wombat was off looking for some better shelter…
Now like a ADV riders report I have lots of photos.
Rear view of the might Sherco and a green thingy Arron borrowed as his KTM is broken
There is a yamaha and Ktm rider hiding down there.
This was a good spot to fix Bolls bike. Yamaha bolts to fix the foot peg. Then the flat tyre. Also fixed by yamaha road side assistance
Can we have another old bull over here to fix this bike 😆
The operation in full swing
SHERCO RESTING
Fridge hill saw some carnage
Vid to come soon.
Had a ball thank you all for a good day out. Happy 40th boze.
Andy
June 30, 2014 at 3:04 am #257993Good reports guys. You know we gotta go back to finish the ride as we were blown off the mountain.
Has anyone got photos of the stop at pondarossa trying to keep warm
June 30, 2014 at 8:11 am #257998The Brass monkey
ride was hatched some time ago following a phone call from Scotty (the one that binned it in the video ) :woohoo: saying that Bozos missus wanted to throw him a surprise birthday party for his 40th. Of course we were all over this like a fat kid on a lollypop.
Some texts were sent out over the following 5 weeks and all the Tamworth OBTs were on board to make this happen.
There were a few close calls but apparently following some quick thinking and side stepping Brenda had pulled off the surprise party for Boze. 😆 Our only job was to get him to the nundle pub by 4.00 Saturday afternoon. I recon we got the easy part as his a bloody ride Hoare.
The ride itself was a cracker it had everything, including a full service for someone’s CRF 450 X . :pinch: I had the honour of leading the birthday crew out to the berry patch with the thought constantly in the back of my mind to be back at the pub on time, I then thought “crap no watch” :pinch: Boze unbeknown to him actually came to the rescue and set up the clock on my 350s dash, thanks Boze. Snowy was to lead us back, The ride out was awesome, I was having a ball trying to keep ahead of them nasty 530 katos , them boys play for keeps. The rest of the crew said the ride flowed well all the way. We no sooner took our helmets off at the berry patch and down she came, a mixture of rain sago and snow. As Andy said even the local wombats (not the ones that rode in on bikes) headed for cover. The warm hospitality and a good feed that is always put on for us at the berry patch made us forget for a brief moment that we actually had to ride the 60 odd ks back to nundle.
The weather cleared a bit so we made a run for it Snow led the valiant troops out of the patch with me saying at every stop, “keep your eye on the time” we can’t get back to early or we will wreck the surprise. Well Mother Nature thought we couldn’t organise a root in a brothel so she took over.  You could hear her say, you will do this my way instantly the black clouds we had been watching suddenly disappeared,( only because we couldn’t see them through the driving rain/hail/snow) At one stage I was riding along and thought Boony your being lazy ,stand up. As soon as I stood up a bloody great clap of thunder hit and I went F*^K that I`m sitting down. We rode for about ½ hour and then there was Snow, Scotty and myself waiting on a corner when the branches started to fall from the trees. I made the Beer call and the ride was canned. We hit the main road and headed back to the cars. I have never been colder or so bloody happy to see the cars before on a ride. We even had to have a beer or three at our loading point just to get our timing right for the real reason we were in Nundle. 👿 👿 👿
The surprise went off perfectly, Boze had no idea and the night was a blast. The bloody pub had no power for about 2 hours and we were all pooling our ideas for cash if the power didn’t come back on. I was gunna sell Bolls Honda after all it was freshly serviced.
The cake with the trail bike scene was unbelievable.Hey Boze
Happy birthday mate andSURPRISE.       👿 :woohoo:
