Well after going to the Doctor and getting stuff sorted this morning I rode the Tenere out to see the guys. I rode some singles fire trails forgetting I didnt have my knee braces on
When I got there the guys had just finished their morning loop. Crash made me an awesome sandwich, cheers for the ingredients Mal
Sby250 was leading the afternoons loop, I left and then went back to see if they wanted a grade 2 loop lead for some of the other guys but it was under control. So I rode home with the rain chasing me
Donna, Mals way better half rang about 6 pm and said they had had the mother of all down pours at their house not far from the camp area
Drunk drowned rats the lucky bastards  :woohoo:
Spewing I couldnt be there like I wanted
but there is always next year at the secret location
Thanks to Mal5.1 for taking the lead with the whole event cheers mate

Merv. Gostrider, Sb250 or badbowieOctober 24, 2010 at 4:02 am #189483Well that’s the Christmas party done and dusted for another year. The weather wasn’t to flash but we made the most of it anyway. :woohoo:
Friday Dude, Whiterocket , Capt Furious and I headed out for an afternoon loop. We did a mix of fire trails and singles with a few challenging bits throw in. When we got back to camp Adam, Sam and Merv had turned up and was setting up camp. Adam and Sam took off for a late arvo ride while we set up our camps. The fire was cranked up for a night of bench racing over a lot of drinks.
Saturday morning a few more turned up. Sb250y, Badbowie, Action, Gary01 and Tom (didn’t get his username). Once we gear up and I asked around to find out what sort of grade riders we had, I decided that we would all go out together and see how the grade 2 riders would go with a grade 3ish ride. After a few singles and fire trail we came to the first hill. A couple of the less experienced guys had a bit of trouble but with a bit help and encouragement they got up. Gary01 was knocked up and only not long been riding and his bikes clutch playing, he felt he was holding everyone up. We convinced him to push on and bypass a couple of tracks until we were hitting the harder singles. Tom decided he would try a Crusty Demons tail whip off an erosion mound. Well not really apparently he got cross up from a puddle before the mound and landed all crossed up and then got high sided pretty hard. He continued on the next couple of tracks and when we got to the start of the harder ones he Gary01, Action and Merv decided to take the fire trail option back to camp. We went on to do a couple of harder singles and then rode down ‘2 steps’ hill and up the other side where the hardcore guys were given the option of attempting the ski run hill. I don’t think anyone got all way the through the hard section. At the top (there is a bypass around the hard section) we headed back to camp for lunch.
When we got back to camp a few more old bulls had arrived and were out riding. They came back about 10mins after we got there. We had some lunch and refuelled. TB turned up on the big Tenere for a chat and then did a few Top Gun style ‘fly buys’ of the camp. Thanks for making the effort to come say hi TB. The grade 2 guys decided they would find some easier tracks to ride on for the arvo and a quick geography lesson about sunny corner and they were right to go. Sam had picked up a front flat and was madly trying to fix it (so he could join the grade 3-4 ride), when an old patch starting leaking as he was refitting the tyre just as we were about to leave. So he and Adam told us to go. I lead the group through some really sweet racks over to the tar road where SB_250y took over the lead as he had a great loop of A4DE and Sunny Corner Rally tracks all linked up. Thanks sb for leading. Sb_250y took us to slate hill, the one that smashed a lot of riders (including me) at the A4DE. The hill was in the same condition as the 4 day, wet and slippery. Whiterocket and Tryhard had a crack at it and made it up after a bit of revving and pushing, well done guys. Sb lead a few more great tracks and then I took the lead again to take us back to camp. I took the guys on one of my favourite fire trails that runs along the edge of the natural forest. It was wet and slippery and a heap of fun. We headed back to camp and the hardcore guys went back out for a bit wet single track riding in the pouring rain. I got the fire cranked up again and we cooked dinner and sat around the fire talking shit again.
Sunday we woke to rain and cold wind. A quick whip around the camp to see if anyone was keen for a ride and there was not a lot of interest. I wasn’t to keen but if someone wanted a ride I would have manned up and gone out. Some guys had to leave early anyway but the rest of us just thought the weather was to crap to ride. So we packed up and cleaned the camp site and went on our way. Thanks to everyone for turning up for a ride. I hope you enjoyed what riding we did. It was great to meet some of the newer Old Bulls and catch up with the usuals.
I didn’t take photos as my camera is busted and I didn’t see any cameras out with the weather we had. Dude and a few other guys had helmet cameras on so hopefully they got some good footage. The tool roll supplied by Suttos was won by Gary01 from names drawn out the hat. He deserved to win as he is only just getting into riding and learning his way around the bike so the tools will come in handy. Thanks Suttos for the tool roll and all the support you give the site and members.
October 24, 2010 at 4:29 am #189484Well it appeared that bikes falling of utes was the flavour of the day. First of Tryhard tried dropping the big 530 of the side of his ute he was that keen after hearing we were going for another ride. I was to busy helping him get it back on to get a photo, but I did get a couple of photos of Bob’s parking effort!!
Tryhard in the background
Well done Bob didn’t even bother you….. maybe worth joining those two planks together????The morning started with Mal 5.1 leading the group through some trails the Old Bull spirit was high with every one helping each other. I think most people had a lay down somewhere along the way. I think it was Tom on the WR450 had a huge one right in front of SB250Y (He has that effect on people) I came around the corner to see Tom stuck under the WR with SB250Y on the job getting it off him. I took King Crashes big XR650 for a go up one of the big hills damn that is alot of bike 2nd gear was enough for me and it felt like it wanted to rip my arms off. Crash reckons I could have given it a bit hahaha. Crash the way you ride that bike is a real credit to you you must have huge steel balls!!!! I got to ride a big TTR250 up the same hill.
The crew ontop of the abovementioned hill.
We stopped for lunch then headed out for an afternoon session. The group had trimmed down a bit some due to bike problems others from being knocked around in the morning session.
It started with Mal leading the group off to a spot SB250Y and I ride. We dropped down through a creek and rode underneath the road through a storm water drain how cool was that!!! I wanted to get some photos but it was that slippery in there I didn’t want to stop.
SB250Y and Mal swapped roles then SB250Y led us through alot of the A4DE enduro tracks, we were moving along at a cracking pace then it started raining what a difference that makes the ground in places was like ice and the rocks were very slippery too. The tracked was blocked by three fallen trees so everyone had to go bush to get around them.
We got to slate hill and Rocket wanted to have a crack at it we could here the 530 reving up so I rode around to meet him at the top when I got there the 530 was cooking but he had made it, we could here another bike coming up and it was Tryhard on another 530. Well done guys that hill is a challenge in the dry let alone in the rain.
We headed back to camp, once we got there Rocket was still keen to ride so Tryhard, Rocket, Bob, SB250Y and I headed up the road to ride some more A4DE singles damn it was slippery in there we all did well not to drop the bikes.
The day finished with us getting stuck trying to get out of the camp ground, FWD van with light truck tyres didn’t go well on the clay.
Shame about the weather but I think everyone had a goodtime.October 24, 2010 at 5:27 am #189454Well what a day,
Woke up 5.30 saturday & after a change of plans loaded the bike was off to sunny corner. Arrived about 10.00 am geared up went to look for the guys, Found them about a hour later.Had a great run then we had lunch. After lunch we had a another great ride including singles & open trails, once the rain came down it was slippery like you woundn’t belive but so much fun.Had another run thru some singles in the rain again later that afternoon. Loaded up & left ,home by 10.00.
Thanks to everyone involed for organising this.

And Crash was a nano second off hooking your van up to the big girl with the snatch strap before you guys turned around. We had to hold him back.
October 24, 2010 at 7:00 am #189455Gents,
What can I say, a VERY big thank you for a great weekend. Mal 5.1 with some running repairs 5 minutes after introductions. Mal for being the taking the Lead and Crash for sweeping. Met a whole heap of really nice guys, some names very familiar from the site. Had a blast on the trails, and spent some time lying on the deck. My theory is “no balls no falls”. However another theory floated around the campfire is ‘When accidents occur its just because you run out of ability’. Like Mumma always said you learn something new everyday. So some great riding, and a blast on the second ride with fast flowing fire trails a few hills and no spills.
Attached is a few pics, The OBT Camp
One of big Tom (Yammymans) dust up.
The magic view from on top of one gnarly hill.
Again thanks for a great ride some great bench racing and meeting some good people.
See you all again.
Cheers
ActionOctober 24, 2010 at 7:03 am #189456I think, here is a video of some of the uys coming up a gnarly hill
