July 9, 2013 at 8:31 am #245787Top weekend.
shame i never got to do a lap of the trails,,maybe next time.Sorry about the trails on friday boys, those trails are normally wickedly fast, but hey thats trail riding.
The auction was great, heaps of good stuff was up for grabs.
The ring of knowledge was a bit disfunctional on friday night,,I blame Toes) but it was heaps better saturday night.
The accomodation was good.
Thanks to all that put some form of an effort into making the weekend happen.
Cheers

Why am I not surprised ?????Taking that track on at a slow pace was my undoing I reckon ,,
Just couldn`t bring myself to crack the go stick on too far in the slippery stuff 😆 😆July 10, 2013 at 9:21 am #245822Nickj and I arrived in Wauchope about 7.30am and pulled up in front of Micks house. Mick was looking very confused and TB was out walking the streets looking for an egg and bacon roll. We realized that the shed party the night before had resulted in a few casualties so we just followed them around Choppy for a while whilst they sorted themselves out.
The drive to Point Sky View was stunning. This place had been on my bucket list for a while now and it was certainly looking like it would deliver. As we gained elevation out of the valley and rose from the morning mist the hills sprung up all around us. It now became very clear that this place was everything I had heard and would easily live up to its reputation as an epic place to ride a bike.
The next few kilometers revealed the true beauty of this place and I ripped out the Go Pro and took some shots. It seems we were not the only ones out there to ride and the roadies were letting it rip around the tight and winding roads.
Anytime I am in the passenger seat of Nickj’s Hilux means that we are either on the way to an adventure or on the way home nursing a cracking hangover. Today we were fresh and excited about what the day’s ahead had to offer.
As tar turned to dirt the anticipation grew and the camp ground came into sight.
Only a few had arrived before us and we set about building camp. Once that was done the trail crew geared up and headed out to mark out the weekends riding.
If you think the grass track was slick on Saturday you should have ridden it when it was all grass!! The off camber stuff was tough to get a grip on and there were a few rocks hidden underneath the path the slasher had taken. Occasionally you would get a big deflection and watch the rock your front wheel unearthed roll down the hill.
A few sections had to be linked to connect the slashed line, which meant doing the full mystery run through the long stuff.
After a few laps the loop was clear but far from ridden in. That would come soon enough once the full crew had cut 5 laps each of the Poker Run. After riding only grass the bikes were looking like new but this would not last for long.
It was time to head on up the big loop and signpost and bunt that off. The rains had brought the rocks to the surface and there was not real line as the trail headed up hill.
On the first lap we bunted off the major intersections and removed any old signs and by the second we were fine-tuning the layout.
Nickj and I took two more laps after that and by the last the line was starting to set up. By the time we emerged form the forest and onto the grass track for the last time that day it was starting to set up. As we descended into the valley the campground was staring to take shape as the OBT crew rolled in from near and far.
