The banjo filter filtering oil to the head isn’t fine enough to catch the smallest alloy particles so they will be everywhere. When they are that fine they ingress into bearings and every nook and cranny.
The only proper option is a strip down, anything else is half arsing it and asking for trouble. I don’t want the big end or gearbox bearings flogging out when I’m a few months out of warranty.
Absolutely agree – work the warranty and good luck.
June 17, 2012 at 9:02 pm #224420OUCH Moto. That’s nasty.
Hope you get the warranty. You’re lucky it’s not a Husky and have to deal with the PFG (importer).
June 17, 2012 at 11:55 pm #224333That is a mess mate
I wonder if its got anything to do with the clutch dragging issues you had when you got it?
The only benefit of not having a bike for a while is you will be able to increase your normal fitness regime

You’r right Mal, I’m very thankful I’m dealing with Sutto’s and not Paul Feeney Group, I’ve heard so many bad things about them.
Mike, I wonder this too. The clutch drag was likely just a new clutch, the fact I had to pull the clucth in more than I thought normal might be because that spring was never tensioned properly making it harder to dis-engage the clutch.
I have been out on the bike the last 3 weekends in a row as part of my new fitness/riding regime. I might have to do the gym thing instead now *shudder*!
June 25, 2012 at 2:22 pm #224513Things aren’t looking as positive as I had hoped.

More info is required. The above looks like a post you’d see on Facebook.
June 25, 2012 at 2:40 pm #224936Nothing to tell yet really. The bike has been looked at and it isn’t going to be a straight forward, “sure we’ll repair it sort of fix”.
The clutch cover has some scuffs, the header is dented and the seat has a rip so there was a concern the damage was caused through my abuse.
A guy in Perth has to make the call along with his counterpart in Austria who’s not available for a week. It’s not yet clear if someone else will be looking at his affairs whilst he’s away or if I just have to wait a week until he’s back.
I have a feeling this isn’t going to end well though.
June 25, 2012 at 2:45 pm #224937It would have to be a pretty hard hit to the header pipe to make a bolt come out of your clutch don’t you think? :S
If they say it is from crash damage and you get it in writting, you would most likely will be able to claim it on insurance then?
June 25, 2012 at 2:47 pm #224938Ummm will watch this with interest Moto I can see what you mean  Have faith I know it is easy for me to say but recent (unsuccessful  ) dealings with a manufacturer for a warranty issue has me appreciating your concern. It may go well but and we shouldn’t shoot them yet, maybe we can load the guns but
Deep breathes mate :pinch: it may just work out

June 25, 2012 at 2:54 pm #224940Well, my repsonse was that the condition of the other parts of the bike are meaningless when talking of a internal engine failure. It is also a dirtbike, that I ride hard, it’s what it’s for
The point of contention is that there are scuffs on the clutch case and the thinking is that a hit on the clutch case could, in turn, hit the bolt, snapping the post it’s screwed into causing it to wear the case out, making it my fault.
The thing is if you look at the pictures, there is quite a big gap between the clutch cover and the bolts and Magnesium isn’t known for it’s flexible properties, so a dent big enough to hit the post would surely have cracked or smashed a hole in the engine case. Supposing for a moment that the clutch case did bend enough to strike the bolt hard enough the snap the post, why are the other bolts unmarked? They would be spinning at how many RPM’s and didn’t once hit the dented area?
As I say, nothing has been decided, it’s just I was rather hoping the phone call would have been more along the lines of ‘you’ll be able to pick her Saturday’
That less Facebook for you Mick?
June 25, 2012 at 2:56 pm #224939Keen to meet a trailrider that does not have boot scuffs on their clutch cover

June 25, 2012 at 3:26 pm #224943Lets go on holidays to Mattighofen, Austria and just start kicking the crap out of every person we see walking around. 👿 Old Bull vigilante style.
According to Wikipedia the population is only 5,750, at least half of them must work for KTM/Husaberg or know someone that does.
Hope it gets sorted sooner rather than later, good luck Moto

I really do morn about your situation(that wasn’t being sarcastic)
Good luck with itHow long was the engine running for after disaster struck??
Is your dealer on your side ????
June 25, 2012 at 7:05 pm #224334I agree mate , with the other bolts untouched they are kidding themselves are’nt they?
Lets hope the guy in Perth has a bit of common sense.
