Well it was wet last night but great fun. Good riding and good people (cause Boony wasnt there  )

812kms two days. Both Boulder and Eagle rode the Tenere for a decent ride. Eagle the Tenere went everywhere it had to and went bloody well. The only clay hill that you and I didnt ride up Jeffro went up and fell off :P

Lotsa, Mickp, Moose and Kram are the biggest bunch of soft c*#ks, Mickp and Lotsa trailered their bikes to Bulahdelah and then trailered them home  Moose put his on his ute and drove down with Kram but to his defence Moose rode home.

Anyway more later including some pics and a proper report

    TB

PS Boony he may have been wet but I didnt get wet ;) and even riding in the rain is better then being you :P

I have never cancelled a ride either Boony, thats not saying lately I havent had to make some changes once they started

Well here is how I saw it

I met Boulder had the pre arranged meeting point. We left and traveled down over the Sackville ferry and into Wisemans Ferry. While waiting for the ferry to St Alburns we met a group of bike riders going to the High Country. They were going the wrong way, they didnt have a GPS and wouldnt listen because they had a leader and he knew  . OK hell who was I to argue, we crossed the river and traveled with them to St Alburns. When we turned over the bridge and the third road they argued was there wasnt they looked very confused :P

Not far out St Alburns heading for Kulnura I swapped bikes with Boulder and watched him ride the Tenere. He stopped after a while but I suggested he stay on it for a while longer. Although nervous as it was very wet and slippery in spots he motored on. We swapped back and turned into the Watagans at the letter “A” and rode through to the Pines Camping area. At this stage we hadnt really been rained on but it wasn’t to last. From the Pines we rode to Kitchener in the bucketing rain. I was very thankful for the quailty wet weather gear I own as I stayed 100% dry and warm. We had a counter lunch and a rum while it continued to flog down. We sat on the porch laughing that when we get to Jeffro’s he and Eagle would be hiding inside while we knock whispering “quiet Eagle they will hear you, if we stay quiet they will think we arent here and leave”

As we left Jeffro rang on the blue tooth and I said we would be there soon. I got a little geographically challaged in Cessnock (we had to ride down a foot path :P ) but we soon got to Jeffro’s in the rain (still)

We left with Jeffro in the lead, soon enough it dried up so I offered Eagle a ride as I know his is interested in a Tenere. After I was knocked down I got up to hear Eagle disappearing in the distance :P on the supercomputer and after Eagle :) After 33 kms I finally wound the mighty KLX up and stopped Eagle, after some tears he gave me back my bike and Jeffro lead us into some sweet adventure style trails. (nice work Jeffro) Soon after we rode some more nice trails although some would have been better on the XR, I was actually holding Eagle up but staying upright. Soon we came to some massive 4w4 bog holes. The Tenere tractored through, we went up some challenging hills and found more and more clay. It also started raining again  . We discussed Boony and how he puts the kiss of death on all our rides lately  I tried to blame Boulder Boony as he is on them all but they the other guys wouldnt have it (ask Eagle its what happened ;) ) General consensus was piss off Boony

We arrived at a seedy looking clay hill after 5pm I said what the hell Jeffro, he correctly said we were on the route I worked out and he was at that stage just following my route   , not sure what was after the hill, still 30kms as the crow flies from Bulahdelah and when I said no and turned around. Jeffro rode up got to the top and fell off. Funny thing about that was no one saw it  So he rode down and told us  :P

After getting back to the bitumen we only went a couple of kms and got onto a dirt road that lead to the same track after the clay hill. From there is was a trouble free run to Bulahdelah, although it rained very very heavy over the mountain and the fog came it to top it off.

We got into Bulahdelah and went straight to the pub for some takeaways. As I backed into the gutter I looked straight ahead and there it is, Mickp’s land cruiser with his and Lotsa’s bikes on the trailer   Softc*#ks  They slinked over and started with the excuses but we hard core blokes weren’t having any of it

Down to the boat, found the NX and the Moose’s XR at the boat. (The XR looked to clean  ) And then it started, the Mayor who I thought would have pea hearted the rain ride down in a heartbeat had ridden while Moose and Kram drove down wearing skirts and holding hands (well thats my understanding)

Anyway after laughs and bullshit we got the pub bus, had a feed and some brews and listened to Kram laugh all though the pub

By the way I stabbed Micknmeld in the hand at dinner and am happy with my decision  He touched my plate, I warned him, he did it again so I lightly stabbed him as a warning (like a shot over the bow in navy terms  ) he touched my plate area again so I stabbed him and drew blood. He may whinge about it but thats the facts. He then carried on like a girl. A girl with a bleeding hand :P :P

Once back at the boat it rained and rained and when it stopped it rained some more. The river was up and it still rained.

When I woke this morning we spoke and as Mick said the crossings we needed to do to have a good ride to Wauchope would be flooded so all the southern riders decided to head back.

Jeffro and Beags took the back country roads while Boulder and I hit the main rd. After 20kms the sun was poking its head through. Mick rang me and said the NX wouldnt start, said it was popping but wouldnt start. I told him pull the plug and clean it, he whinged about how hard it was but he sucked it up, cleaned the plug and away it went ;)

When Boulder and I got to Hexham I broke away and went through Newcastle, around the water front and down to Catherine Hill bay. I rode some of the tracks down there and tested where and what I can really do with the Tenere (turns out it was me holding it back   )

From there I worked my way down to Somersby and rode some of the old tracks that are still there from when I was a kid.

So there it is, a great two days riding. More experience with my Tenere and more confident where it can go now.

Some photos of my return trip from Newcastle on

What a fun way to spend 24hrs,!!

I sat at my desk on Friday watching the rain belt down by the bucket full and was thinking to myself, a man has to have rocks in his head to even contemplate riding in that shit but I was determined to go and make the most of it.

The plan was for Moose to meet me at my place at 2pm and we head off from there and true to his word Moose turned up as I had just finished kitting up in my wet weather gear.
Trouble was Moose and Kram had arrived in Moose’s ute with his bike in the back!! WTF!!!!!!!

They did their best to talk me into putting the NX in the ute and go with them, “What??? And suffer public humiliation on the internet, not in your life” . I was riding no matter what.
So, determined, I set off into the pissing down rain on The NX, first stop to be at Krambach for fuel. As I headed up over Comboyne the rain, fog and wind made for an interesting ride to say the least.

    DSCN2056.jpg

The rain was continuous and was flogging down as I entered Krambach and as I went past the pub, Moose and Kram where on the verandah cheering me on. A top up of fuel and I headed back to the pub and had a schooner with Moose and his girlfriend Kram.

    DSCN2059.jpg

There is the proof right there, Ol Burple on the ute.

    DSCN2060.jpg

From Krambach, I headed south through, Bunyah, Upper Myall and a few other valllys that provided me with some great riding and great scenery. I did make one error when I put my tank bag in the ute though,it had all my trail notes in it , so I just guessed my way south and eventually rolled into Buladelah at about 5 PM.

    DSCN2065.jpg

    DSCN2062.jpg

    DSCN2064.jpg

Even though it had been raining like a bastard I had managed to stay pretty dry all the way until I was heading up the main street of Bulahdelah when the mother off all down pours hit me and the water made it in just as I pulled up at the house boat. My support crew (Moose and Kram)were already there and greeted my with a nice cold beer.

    DSCN2066.jpg

    Wet as a shag

    DSCN2067.jpg

I was on about my second (maybe third) Beer when the other boys turned up, sorry about the blurry pics but I must have still been shivering.

Eagle the super commuter and Jeffro

    DSCN2072.jpg

Then a couple more sheilas turned up

    DSCN2073.jpg

They also copped a ribbing for doing the tin top thing but were quickly forgiven when they produced cheese and bikkies etc, thanks Mickp and Lotsa
We just then did the OBT thing and “socialized” a little

Just some random pics from the arvo

    DSCN2074.jpg

    DSCN2075.jpg

The House boats were excellent, it was great to be in a nice spot having a few beers with mates. Far better than the pub, IMO.

    IDSCN2078.jpg

    DSCN2069.jpg

    DSCN2087.jpg

We gave the pub a call and” Sprocket” or whatever he called himself picked us up in the courtesy bus and delivered us there for a feed. Not a bad feed either. We had a couple at the pub.

    DSCN2080.jpg

We then thought we should go as the locals where “eyeing off”, the four “sheilas” we had with us.

Here is two of the sheilas, slightly better looking than any of the bulahdelah talent I might add.

    DSCN2079.jpg

Back at the boat we had a few more beers and a thousand laughs.

    DSCN2084.jpg

    DSCN2082.jpg

    DSCN2081.jpg

Jeffro had a bit off trouble all night trying to “get his sea legs”

    DSCN2083.jpg

Eagle was pissed and Kram was “shickered”

    DSCN2085.jpg

The laughs came thick and fast, a big wood beetle provided us with some laughs, if you where on the ride and don’t know about the beetle, the joke is on you….ahahhahahahah

We hit the hay after partaking in maybe one too many bourbons and woke to TB tromping about the aft deck (nautical term) at 6am, I could tell he was on a mission by the noise he was making. I looked out of my bedside port hole( Nautical term) and sure enough he was getting the Tenere ready to hit the road early. A few dusty heads started to appear to survey the weather with coffees in hand.

    DSCN2086.jpg

It had flogged down all night and the river had risen, so it was then decided that, the route we had planned to take, would be cut by flooding creeks and it would be best to do it another time . So TB and the boys headed south leaving Moose and I to ride back to Wauchope while Kram drove the Ute home.

We stayed and had breakfast at the Marina ( Thanks Sandra),the NX decided it wouldn’t start for love or money, we kicked it ,we pushed it and it still wouldn’t go, so a call to TB confirmed he hadn’t sabotaged it, he told me to pull the plug and clean it and sure enough, away she went.

Moose and I basically back tracked the way I went down, until we came across this.

    DSCN2095.jpg

At this stage we were at two ends which way to go when I spotted a closed bridge further down the creek. We rode over some rough ground to get to the old bridge and I asked Moose “What do you reakon?’ He said “you go first”. We got over the flooded creek and where under way again. I had an interesting day with creatures trying to take me out, 6 wallabies, a flock of red billed swamp chooks, a yellow tailed Cockatoo and a freshwater yabbie.

We also came to a few other creeks that where rising

    DSCN2092.jpg

We got to Wingham and fueled up and headed out through Bobin to have a look at Ellenborough Falls as it is always a sight after heavy rain.

    DSCN2096.jpg

From there we hammered the two old bikes back to Wauchope and where back having a beer in Mooses shed at 2pm. A great 24 hrs. Thanks guys.

I just read your report Mick and reread mine and realised I had a ball, lets do it again tomorrow it was a hoot :woohoo: :woohoo:

The boats rule and when we do it again soon no one that called them the love boats are invited

What a ride how lucky are we to be able to do adventure riding and single trail and everything in between

I loved the last two days, cheers guys

I woke up Friday to rain on the roof and geared up to meet TB, Made the wife a coffee before I left and she said as I was leaving are you blokes well?? riding in this weather. I felt it my duty to educate her and explained that we were OB trailriders and a bit of rain would’nt stop us!! no fear.
I would have to re evaluate this statement later.

I met TB as planned and we made our way to Jeffro’s via St albans and the watagans along the way TB gave me a ride on the Tenere and I put one on the shopping list. After handshakes We left with Jeffro at the front and rode some nice tracks on our way to Buladelah to meet some hardcore OB’s!! “yeah well one” Micknmeld was the only one riding. We picked up some grog to take to the boats while the sheila’s ordered their latte’s at the cafe’.

After a great night of beer and bullshit we awoke to more rain and decided that we would have to come back and finish this ride at a later date.
Thanks to all the guys for a great weekend.
Special thanks to Micknmeld for booking the love boats they were great and had all the mod cons. B)

    #190231

I’m going to harden up next time and ride with Mick. It would certainly have improved my speech patterns, balance, and general behavior, compared to travelling with Kram!!
    Bloody funny night though.
Saturday’s ride home was a hoot. Or at least it would have been if an owl had of tried to hit Mick’s bike. Most other critters had a shot at him!
Great shot of the falls Mick.
Thanks to all for the fun.

    Moose.

It wasn’t an Owl, it was one of those big yellow tailed Black Cockatoos. I have never had to dodge so many critters in one ride ever. Nature threw everything at me this weekend.

BTW…Sandra text me and said that someone has left a black jumper on the outside boat. If you are missing one give her a call.

    #190267

Thats my jumper, I can live without it for a while, might go for a ride up there next week just to pick it up. ;)

A very wet ride at times but still better than not riding.

Eagle turned up smack on 2.30 like he said he would and after waiting around for 15 minutes or so I decided to give TB a call and see where he and Boulder were, they had just finished lunch at Kitcheber Pub so Eagle and I went insde and watched an episode of MXTV I had taped. After it finished we geared up and the guys turned up. I lead tem out through Millers Forest and out through Seaham to Clarence town on the tar, I had a dirt section in mind but with all the rain there was a creek crossing I was worried about and so cut that bit out. Out through Clarence town towards Stroud and detoured for a bit of dirt riding. The dirt roads were for the most part in good nick and there is one really nice flowing section that TB particularly said he enjoyed. We had to clear a tree off the track at one point but other than that it was plain sailing. Back out onto the tar and into Stroud we headed off onto the track that TB had worked out which met up with alsmost the identical track that I had come up with only his started from stroud and mine started just out of stroud.
The riding was good to start with but after a while we came to a bit of a nasty bog hole, Boulder and I road through and were trying to point TB to the easiest way through. Boulder said that he would get through it ok but I pointed to the rutted clay hill ahead and said that I was more worried about it. Boulder suggested I head up for a look ad I made it up easier than I thought, about half way up t started to rain which made the top surface really greasy but I was still going up with no problems. Once I got past the worst of it I relaxed and was looking behind me for a second when the back slipped into a minor rut and just kept going around, so down I went. I walked back down a ways to see if anyone was coming and there was boulder flapping about coming up, the rain had made it very slimey. Tb had turned around and so I had to walk back up to the bike to come down again. We headed out of Stroud on the tar and headed off road again on my route but it only joined up to where we had turned around again. I punched in Buladelah on the GPS by the shortest route and thathad us on the dire for a few K’s before popping back out onto the tar around Booral. From there it was tar all the way into Bully, I was just starting to have some fun as we were riding through some nice twisty sections when the rain came down again (always at the best parts of the ride) and had to ease off on the best part. I was riding along with my visor part opened to avoid fogging up when ands I could still barely see, so I popped it up a bit more and looked under it only to realise it wasn’t my visor fogging up, it was just fog. By this point TB and Boulder were in the lead so we missed the chance at a little more dirt that would have brought us into Bully from the other side. As had become tradition of late, first stop was the pub where we garabbed our takeaways and headed for the house boats.

The evening was full of laughs and the pub put on a good feed, the coutesy bus driver was dangerous as he was more interested in talking than looking at what he was doing  .

The rain had been coming down since about 5.00 without a break and only got heavier as the night wore on, the next morning it hadn’t improved and the decision was made to save the ride for another day. After saying our goodbyes and refueling, Eagle and I headed back retracing our path from the day before into Stroud, the were a couples of creek crossings invovled and the first one was a bit of a worry. It was only about 4 or 5 meters across but was probably close to half a meter deep and flowing fast but we got througfh without any drama. Once in Stroud I took Eagle on a bit of a detour through the back streest and onto a dirt road before heading back out toward Dungog and turning off into black camp road again. From there we headed towards clarence town where I again diverted a different way from the previous day with some more dirt back into Seaham and home again. The heaviest rain of the day was between Seaham and home.

I can’t wait to get up that way again and do some exploring.

A couple of pictures from day 2 only, the first 1 shows the rain on the river and you can see on the far bank that there are rails sticking up out of the water from a jetty that is submerged and the other is of a creek where the water is up to the bridge.

Jeeper Maria   after reading this I feel the need to tell my side of the story and redeem myself

Contry to popular belief, I did throw a leg over a bike on the weekend. In fact I did a very hardcore 60klms to Mooses place in the pouring rain, howlin wind, tree branch dodgin, pissoff boony conditions  That was it for me the 848 was parked in Mooses shed until the return leg.

No sooner than I got my wet weather gear off, Mooses was thowing a cold ale down my neck and the plan was hatched to ute Burple and Me. Off to Mick’s we went convinced he would join us in our cunning plan, but the mayor was staunch. With a contemptuous wave of his hand our plan was dismissed. Mick got on the NX and Moose and Me headed for the Kramback pub to support him on his journey

On to the house boats and what a top place to get legless for the night :woohoo: The boys all rocked in in their wet weather gear and for a couple off minutes I almost wished I riden, but I got another beer and moved on  Lotsa and Mickp showed some common sense and turned up dry and the fun began. The pub dinner was great. The banter, well it’s always tops.

Next morning TB, Eags, Jeffo and Boulder got scared of a little rain and buggered off home like a rat out of an aquaduct before we even had breakfast. Hardcore. Pheww. I thought this was a three day drinking session…..I mean ride  Mick, had a litte trouble getting the NX to find it’s mojo the next morning, but that only gave Moose and Me the time to raid the fridges for the leftovers.

All that was left for me was to drive Moose’s ute home and think about the 60 klm to come on the 848

What a cracker of a weekend. Pity the soft C*#ks from the south couldn’t find the ticker to keep going :woohoo:

Yes it was wet (PISS OFF BOONY)
But we still had a good run up friday arvo, a bit damp & slippery in places for the Big Ten (I`m sure you will hear about that)

There were a few surprises when we got there after a bit of a detour I`m not mentioning names, but a few so called HARD CORE members seem to have gone a BIT SOFT

Tea at the pub was an eye opener (the local talent was a bit ordinary, no, a lot ordinary)

More brews back at the boats till midnight, then layed in bed listening to the downpour ALL NIGHT

Sat morning proved to be sn easy decision to gear up early & head out for the trip back home (a tad earlier than expected) But Jeffro & I still had an adventureous ride home with quite a bit of damp dirt trails & some rather deep & interesting creek crossings

Was back home in Newy by 10.30 & TB was last heard of trying some trails in the Catho area solo (Boulder had made the dash down the F3

Clocked a total of 314ks in 5 hrs of riding time & loved every bit of it,,,,,

Thanx to All that made it a cheerful night anyway, Thanx to TB for the test ride on the Big Ten (my mind is set now for sure) And thanx the the Bike/Ride Whore Jeffro for the fun trip back , it was a blast considering the weather

As for the so called SOFT C&#*S from the South MR Hippy Kram :P I was only doing the one night anyway (was originally driving up in the cruiser friday night, ask the Mayor, true story)

No Boll, the boats stayed moored to the jetty as per tha plan, although there was an option on Sat morning thrown about, “Lets load up with some more cartons & slip down the river, out the heads & up to Port Macquarie” or even “Lets float on the flood waters to PEEL St TAMWOTH to bash Boony” :woohoo:

I am keen to repeat the ride in the New Year if we can, it would be good to get the bit over the mountain done in the dry,,,, and the Houseboats were great accomodation for a change ;)
Organise it again & I`m in :woohoo:
