After a valiant rescue by TB, Kat and Mick the chinese clunker is back home.

Unfortunately it still isn’t starting and frankly I haven’t the faintest idea why. So I in my great wisdom I decided to just start taking it apart in the hope that I might learn a bit more about what makes bikes tick. Here is where I’m up too

I remember Mick and WR saying it could be a fuse or battery issue. I know where the battery is but where are the fuses???

Now I know that this thing is the filter….A paper filter mind you. I’ll take it out tomorrow and post some pics.

I’m never taking this out on the trails again but I might turn it into a road putter?? Have to get it started first.

Hey Old Girl I can drop by next Monday or Tuesday if you want and give you a hand. I am sure we can get it going or at least will be able to diagnose what the actual problem is so you can get some parts.

Got a call today from the parts supplier asking about my headlight so hopefully it will all come soon.
Today’s progress was a bit slow. Buying a new house (just moved in 2wks ago) and having 4 kids (darn things keep wanting to be fed) seriously gets in the way of my bike tinkering ;)

This is what an air filter from a Kinlon looks like.

So it seems the battery overflow has been recoloring my bike …opps

The offending battery. What is that thing in front of it??? was connected to wires before I pulled it off.

Was going to take the chain off then I realised I don’t have a bike jack.

That’s the ignition advance unit, it’s the same terminal sizes as an XR Honda. You need that bit.
If it was insured I’d suggest setting fire to the entire bike.
See how you go getting it running, TB and I are working for apple cider these days so if you have some in the fridge you may get invaded if it comes to that.
One of my friends works at Gasman Chinese quality bike shop (ha) in Penrith, he has been working on them for years and is pretty good, way better than I am on the Chinese bikes.

I thought we weren’t allowed to talk about Chinese bikes on here. I.ve been trying to get a spark out of a chinese go-cart that was given to us for the past couple of weeks. I think I stuffed my multimeter on it as it tells me the power in the house is 360volts AC.

I see Chicheng bikes completed the Dakar without an engine change it would seem in 55th place 10 odd hours behind and 118th 30 odd hours behind, pretty good copying I rekon ;) ;) ;)
    And good pilots too.

Ooo it is insured actually. Do you know anyone that is willing to torch it 😆
Apple cider hey….the alcoholic type or non??? I buy that Rekorderlig apple cider by the carton so feel free to invade my place anytime ;)

I’ve spoken to the guys at gasman (nice blokes) but they don’t usually work on anything that is road registerable and weren’t much help.
If necessary I can buy a whole new electrics kit for the bike.

Everything is fixable time, enthusiasm and cider will fix anything.
