😆
don’t stress guys I wont torch the bike.No rush TB. Have an awsome ride.
Showed Hubby those GPS’s and strongly hinted that I may need one soon…..along with a new bike
I am going to change the chain and tyres though. Road tyres I think.
February 13, 2013 at 9:32 pm #236694I showed Adam the photos. It’s a Zong Shen engine, has pushrods…woohoo
Adam’s suggestion was that if it does not have spark it’s a 95% chance the stator has died as they are 100% rubbish. He probably has one in stock. $80-120 depending on the type.February 14, 2013 at 12:38 am #236698Yes I was going to say Chinese stators and CDI units are as reliable as the bikes headlight globe.
They should be a very cheap fix. In fact I’m surprised they don’t give you 5 for the price of 1 on these items.February 14, 2013 at 1:43 am #236702Pushrods ???
Thats a Lister next thing you’ll say is to mount it to a water pump for the cows trough!!February 14, 2013 at 3:47 am #236699Teknik wrote:I showed Adam the photos. It’s a Zong Shen engine, has pushrods…woohoo

I’ll have to drop down tommorow and get one then. I’m guessing the starter is that little silver cylinder thingy that was near the green fuse. I’ll bring it in with me
oh and what are push rods???

It may pay to wait until we can be sure if its actually stator OG, better then paying for stuff not needed maybe? The stator is above the gear stick tip, the round cover see below, you will need a puller to get the flywheel cover off I reckon
I should have a puller for it, or will make one

February 14, 2013 at 7:53 am #236714ok good thinking TB. Some how I think I’m going to have a long shopping list once you guys are finished with my bike
.
February 14, 2013 at 9:21 am #236740Nah, we really just need to get it going at a minimal cost, only thinks you should buy for it are stuff that are adaptable to your next bike, GPS mounts and the like.
February 14, 2013 at 11:02 pm #236742Actually funny you should mention that. I definately want to sell it asap I have a ‘motorbike fund’ that my Minister for Finance (aka my husband) set up to save for a better bike. How much do you think I’ll need? I’d did want a Husky TE 310 (second hand most likely). But bc of the KTM buy out is it worth getting an old one, what is the buy out going to do the spare parts market?
February 18, 2013 at 3:58 am #236769ITS ALIVE!!!!
Got it started this morning. Someone came around last week and with a bit of speaker wire connected to the battery informed me that the starter was fine but there was a blown fuse near the solenoid (changed it) and the solenoid was a crappy.
So quick trip to gasman this morning pick up another solenoid for $40. I had to rewire it bc the plugs didn’t fit, but once it was in (and I’d connected the fuel back up  ) she started.
Now my only problem is I can’t get the fuel tank back on!!!!! I’ve emptied it out…..do NOT light a match in my back yard, or anywhere near me for a while cause tipping it back into the jerry was rather messy.
I’m thinking it might be a case of my little girly muscles not being stong enought to shove the tank forward that last 10mm so I can get the bolt in.
I’ll put some pics up later tonight to show you all what my problem is.
February 18, 2013 at 4:28 am #236617Make shore the fuel tank is vented (cap) loose when fitting as they will expand in the heat.???

February 18, 2013 at 4:35 am #236920Plastic tank will open up a little bit if they are left off the bike empty, you will need to have simeone push the bottom of the tank together whilst you put the bolts in.
February 18, 2013 at 7:22 am #236921or you can use a ratchet tie down to pull it forward until its in the right position and then fit your tank bolts unassisted, easy pezy

February 18, 2013 at 8:48 am #236926I can drop by tomorrow around lunch time if you need a hand OG

February 18, 2013 at 9:20 pm #236928Thanks for those tips guys.
Gave it a bit of a try this morning, was a bit of a polava being in a dress and heels trying not to get petrol on myself while pushing on the tank ….high heels are not the best for balancing :laugh:probably not an issue you guys have ever had to deal with …..or maybe you have
Thanks for the offer TB, but I have a kids school presentation to go to at lunch today so wont be home.
I’ll try the trick with the tie down straps this afternoon and see how I go.
