I just got a call from KTM saying my bike is fixed and ready to go so I’ll be putting her on Ebay this week I expect. That is unless someone has a good reason why bikesales is better???

The problem ended up being the RHS kill switch which has me baffled. Normally with the RHS switch if it’s pressed you wont turn the starter over but I could. They’ve told me over the phone it was just a bad connection and that it must have given enough to turn the starter but not the CDI which seems strange to me. Either way I’m glad its done.

So it’s good to go now after nearly another $500 spent! :( The switch was only $95 I think but I had them install the water pump seal again and tidy up a few bolts so it’ll be 100% for the new owner. It could have been worse, the stator is $400 alone if that was the problem but I’m sure I could’ve had it reconditioned for less.

This was my first bike and I’d love to be able to keep it but she’s broken my heart now and it’s time to move on though it’ll be sad :(

Still haven’t bought a replacement yet and I think the final decision will be in January. In the mean time I can either ride my brother’s or maybe even Benno’s 450 since he’s buggering off to port douglas and leaving his bike behind.

If anyone is interested send me a PM.

would you stick with ktm on the next one and 2 or 4 stroke and are you goin bigger or do like the lightweight of the 250

Its going to be a lightweight but I’m not sure what yet. KTM have a great range and there’s still a couple on my list but I’d rather try another brand just for variety but I’m not going to chose an inferior bike just for the sake of changing colours.

Aim is to try what’s out there if possible. There’s no sense in thinking you’re riding the best bike in the world when you have no idea what the other bikes have to offer. That said I did love riding my 250f ;)

At least the old girl is fixed Trent :) I’m in a similar position with the 450, I do want to keep it for nostalgia purposes but question when I’ll really use it.

Riding other bikes and making a decision is a pragmatic and sensible way to approach the situation. let me know when you’re free and we’ll go for a burn :)

That’s what I like to hear a KTM rider saying he’s taking his bike for a “burn”…. :P

But seriously there are some great bikes out there Austblue, try as many as you can and see which one feels right for you, not all of us are the same so what suits you may very well be someone elses least favourite, we ride for fun, so the ride must be fun.
