AnonymousHere is the new steed, it’s an older 99 model KTM 200 that’s just had a complete new engine rebuild. I hope to tart her up a bit cosmetically over the next few months and make her a bit of a project bike.

Anonymousi did some laps on the 300 version of that model on the weekend. really good. steered a little too well (which is adjustable). had good breaks and i liked the forks.

AnonymousI only had a quick go but it seemed to turn in really easy compared to my bike. It’s a 200 engine in a 125 frame though so I guess that’s to be expected. Although the jetting feels a little off the engine feels tight (as it should after being rebuilt) and it’s got some poke when on the pipe. I’ll see how it goes after a run and then sort out jetting if required. Previous owner said it was fine before the engine was rebuilt.
Brakes were fine although the bearing on the rear brake needs replacing (I’ve already ordered it).

Its a nice bike Moto and a smart buy, it will be good for her to learn on and as her riding progresses the bike will with her, very good

AnonymousCheers mate, a little XR 250/280 would have the go too but they seem to go for silly money at the minute. More than I paid for this and some years older.
I’m really quite looking forward to getting my hands on it and going for a proper ride, it may sway me into 2 strokes
August 25, 2009 at 12:52 am #149987It will also be easier for her to start then a XR250

AnonymousYeah, it does start real easy, or at least it did the one time I tried it

The first of the mods are on their way, I bought some pillowtop grips for it. Now I have 2 sets to fit

Anonymousremember she has smaller hands than you.
racy was getting sore hands. i fitted thinner grips and she says her hands are now heaps better. then she gave me a kiss
August 25, 2009 at 6:17 am #150063Good stuff Moto, Fundamentalist trailriding beckons you and your obviously tolerant Lady.
I see your future involves pre-mix… lots of pre-mixing and little maintenance and more riding and happy happy times.
