Well at your age its expected   Bad Bowie was home and hosed we thought in 2011(?) we all thought he was done and wrote himself of and the bike within 20kms of the finish. Not there until you are there

I just spoke with Letty as he left Tippaburra (spelling). Sounded fresh and going good. It will be the mind game now till the end. He said the sand after Louth was deep, you just sat back and let it do its thing :woohoo: Go little man !

Well it has been another awesome and successful LDR to the Cameron Corner. I would like to thank everyone for their support and best wishes during the ride. For those of you who may wish to know my total was 1295km in 12hr 46min with a moving average of 110km/h and a total stopped time for refueling and eating of exactly 1hr.
It is very demanding on the mind as concentration and hydration is the key. I travelled around 900km of dirt in total, with a main stop of around 15min at Cobar to eat and refuel.
For me this is the point where the real riding is done and where you and the bike must be in perfect shape in order to achieve success. Heading north-west to Louth then through to Wanaaring where the sand is thick and unpredictable as is the wild life!!! The type of tyre and pressures are very important for constant hot hi-speed running in order to survive. This year on the KTM640 I used a Dunlop 952 from and 908 Rally Raid on the rear. I took the gamble and they were about 50% used. If I did it again I would probably opt for newer tyres as the return trip was very interesting……
I was the first bike to make the corner with well over 2hrs left until sunset and I could have done many more kms, however the corner was my aim.I would like to thank TB and Ride ADV for their support on this particular ride as it has made this particular attempt smoother than the first. Unfortunately TB had to pre-run the first Ride ADV event for 2015 and couldn’t make it, maybe one day in future….. Thanks also to GFMS for the preparation on the KTM 640, which has completed 3000km in 3days and not missed a beat.
Cheers,
Lefty -
