That was a great old bike that XL. Big step up from the old “Skipper” CT185 that you had before that!

One of the Most reliable I have owned and I have owned it from New is a 1982 XL 250R, it still starts with one kick in the guts and goes all day easily, I bet that surprised a few:)

Why Dave? Havent most of the people here said a honda of some sort was the best they have owned, no not doing it Dave :(

I had a Honda VFR400 NC30 (Rothmans race colours) road bike which I rode to work and back every day for a year. I cained the absolute nuts off it every single day, and from cold too. I never filled it with oil, never did an airfilter, spark plug, oiler the chain or anything and it kept on ripping.

I sold it to a guy who lived on the Isle of Wight, he came with his family to look at it and his eyes beemed when he saw it and heard it start up. He bought it there and then and died 4 months later when he rode it under a lorry :(

RIP to ol’ mate and the bike.

Champo, I reckon a special mention should be given to the KLX. Considering the flogging that you used to dish up to it at the quarry. You were a sick, sick man back then.

All of the bikes that I have had have been reliable. The only one that ever let me down was my IT250H, it liked to eat plugs like there was no tomorrow. Not a good thing to have a plug let you down while being followed very closely by an unmarked cop car. Wasn’t my fault that I was too young to have a licence and rego and thought that public streets were a good place to race my mates. Long story short the copper got me and I knew there was no point trying to get the old girl started again.

The bikes that I have had since finding riding fun again, have all had electric legs this is something that I couldn’t / wouldn’t not have.

I am hoping the WR250R will have a long, long life as I can’t see myself buying another bike for a long, long time.

Just joshing mate. Yes, it very similar to the Isle of Man. Very green, roaming fields, little country pubs and crappy weather  There are no speed limits on the roads on the Isle of Man, there is on the Isle of Wight (it’s smaller too).

I had an XT500 76 mod. was safe as houses, but it liked to eat the Legs of them whom did kick it!( timing was a Biatch) And Old 82 Cr 250. I saw a heap of the Surrounds to ISA on this unit. Punished it religously, maintanence was something one paid to the ex? Closest call to grief, Riding that thing Pinned, no rear brake Hub, Up around the side of a hill, when cresting the rear was going nuts, so I backed it off, dropped a couple of gears and ended up on the edge of a rock drop off. Some 30 ft deep and around 20 ft across. Reckon i would’ve pulped myself into that, tappin band in 5th…some times theres good comes outa a flat!!( broke the rear Hub trying to ride it ‘Solo” style at the speedway, bounced the wall..no more rear brake hub. :) I miss that bike. best point and go bike I ever had.

ah haaaaa….. got you mr blue……
your just another wolf in a sheeps riding gear!!:P
i will add that to my signature just to remind you every time you jump on the bandwagon…. mwaaa ha ha!:woohoo:

na, to be totally honest, my most reliable bike would be my trusty ’91 tt350. i gave it hell to keep up with my mates and it never skipped a beat…till i smashed it, then rebuilt it…then it never skipped a beat again.

second would be my ’89 kdx200. i gave that thing some serious shitzen. it only failed me once, when the piston shattered. but 75 bucks and a rice bubbles box for a head gaskit fixed that. i sold it to a mate, (taboo, i know) and he still rides it to this day, and loves it too.

my kato is yet to prove itself, the only thing that has broken on it so far has been the wobbly bit on top of it!!(me!!)

I had an Honda MR50 when I was a kid it was never touched, I can remember the rear sprocket been so worn, the chain was so tight so it would slip so much the suspension hardly moved  I had an RM60 after that it went and went and went, we sold to friends they passed it through to kids and sold to other friends of ours and never touched it !

In my adult life both my XR 600’s I never touched and rode one of them every Wednesday, saturday and sunday in the watagans for two years, to the cape, yellow mountains and big trail rides 1000km weekends, never touched them never. Chicken has my 2nd on and its done over 40 odd thousand and we put a clutch in it, more by mistake should never of changed it
