I am looking to purchase a brand new or near new Tenere mid to late this year to replace the NX which is now 20 years old and still going great. Salina and I use it for touring of road with small road use.
I was wondering has anybody heard anything or know someone with one.
Thank you in advance

March 1, 2010 at 1:41 am #172257No TB they do look the ducks guts though you might wan’t to test ride one before you part with the trusty NX All I know is that its heavy and it has a tow hook on the front for when it breaks or gets bogged on a muddy hill climb
March 1, 2010 at 4:29 am #172265Will be test riding one with the restrictors removed, high front and an after market pipe fitted

March 1, 2010 at 4:47 am #172308Not sure on the Tenere’ Tb, but a mate up the roads got one of the newer XT660s and it’s a fair dinkum stump-puller with an after market pipe and motarded. Nice subdued note too, always tell when he’s coming up the road, got a sound of it’s own.
Nice choice, they’ve got the heritage for sure

March 1, 2010 at 7:47 am #172336Have you posted up on advrider.com? Good source for info and there’s a stand alone thread in the aussie forum for the “ten”
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=501060
p.s I’ve been calling it the ten-eer but I watched a review on the super tenere and the aussie bloke called it the teneray
March 1, 2010 at 8:47 am #172258They look heaps better with the high front guard, I will be putting the Andy Strapz soft panniers I have on.
What else do you buy with ground clearance, rally style setup, single cylinder under 20k
Everything else is over 20k or years old

Looks the go TB,
I have been drooling over one of these since reading a few mag reviews, most recently in Trailzone where they did the Longset Day Out from the Coast to Cameron Corner in a day (1500ks) :blink:Apparently they are a treat to ride offroad & have plenty of stick, as well as comfort
I am hanging to win the Lotto now, then it will be a toss up between a Tenere & the BMW800

You are right about the guard,,,, Is that a simpe bolt it on higher job ???
And the overall style of the thing is Top Notch for the $14,000 tag too
Good Luck with the whole deal,,,,,ps, I would like to book a test ride when you get it
March 1, 2010 at 8:54 am #172354I’d probably by a KTM690R and spend the change getting it set up for longer runs but what do I know.
March 1, 2010 at 8:57 am #172355pity it wasnt yellow!!!!
we could call it bumble bee :woohoo: :woohoo:March 1, 2010 at 9:06 am #172356Austblue wrote:

Price of parts is bullshit, seats no good for touring two up which is mainly why I want the bike and the exhaust system on it looks like and after thought

March 1, 2010 at 9:19 am #172260209kg single cylinder motorcycle Farrrrrrk, and thats not yet loaded with saddle bags and the like. I looked closely at the one at the bike show and to me it just looked cheap. The forks look like tooth picks and with all that weight have to flex real bad.
I like the look of the Tenere it’s just in the flesh it doesn’t look like it would last long.
For me i’d go the BMW F800GS. I know it’s cost more but if this is going to be a long term investment it will be worth it. 800cc parallel twin and a claimed 207kg full a fuel, vrooooom.
Ps, I bet the pillion seat is more comfy too, gotta look at the selling points for the little woman.
March 1, 2010 at 9:26 am #172360All the suspension rates ok from ride reports, but I am hearing you Scotty.
The BMW is beautiful but is a 22 to 24 K + setup bike against 16 and half for the Yamaha after Tekniks has finished with it. And the price of BMW parts and accessories ask Mal 5.1 we looked and OMG  KTM are cheap by comparisonTB
March 1, 2010 at 9:36 am #172261Then the next pick would be the KTM690R. At around 140Kg, even with Selena sitting on the KTM it will still be lighter the Tenere.
Top notch suspension (linkage
) and heaps of grunt. Yes it needs a big tank that may look ugly but let face it, adventure bikes are’t about looks. Once saddle bags are fitted they all look like shit.
