For those who witnessed the demise of the Green Beast at Krambach Pub during the Nabiac Weekend,,,
It has returned from the brink :woohoo:Some called it the “Doomed Kwaka” etc etc,,, but it seems the catastrophic looking oil leak was caused by a crack in the cam chain tensioner housing, which let the oil out past the O-ring
There was one valve pretty much closed but the others were still within tolerance after 19,640ks
So with some thrifty shed time I managed to machine the shim down (on an oilstone) and it roared back to life first push on the button!!!
There are some more shims on order & expected to arrive early this week, `spose I will put em in the spares kit for a rainy day…..ps. the days of the commuter are numbered anyway, as there is a plan of a new steed for the shed (decision has been made & cemented after many months of thought & a few test rides) should be about 2 -3 months before the unveiling of the new machine,,,,,, NO HINTS either it is a secret:P

March 13, 2011 at 9:24 am #198010:laugh: I tell ya Scotty,,, That was the thought that crossed my mind when it stopped the other week:unsure:
Thanx Mick, I did have that proud feeling when it kicked first go
