Finally got the bike out again last weekend and hit the trails.

Started out at the car wash

Conditions were a bit moist in spots but the single trail was prime.

Decided not to wear this part of the track out

    log.jpg

the corners were berming up nicely. Obviously I was not at the front of the pack

    ST2.jpg

Did I mention I’m not competitive at all. Coming second.

Doesn’t look like I caught anyone. Lucky the pink tape is my friend.

Time for another wash and cool down. The brave/suckers are sent out first to test the waters.

Poor old Steves bike must have been very dirty

    Time to hit the hills.

Max and Blue make it up CAT hill. Can’t say the same for myself this time. Not a good confidence boost before Nundle.

Then on to Horse Power hill. One for the two stroke fans. Still didn’t make it more than 1/3 of the way but the best attempt on the day.

The end of the day and they were wearing down

Your bike not idling properly (and lack of clutch control) can have dire consequences.

The picture of perfect balance, legs aren’t even bent. I think I needed to poo.

Had a great day. Perfect conditions and picturesque surroundings. This is what happens when you get over 1m of rain for the year.

Bikes washed and prepped for this weekend. Bring on those Nundle hills.

Funny thing, I was going to write something about it but thought the picture said it all. No, not confident at all. Did it ten times on the weekend (so 13 times all up now) and pulled the pin before I pushed my luck too far. It is starting to get a lot easier. Part of the reason I pulled out was I was starting to get a bit confident and history has shown me what a bit too much confidence can lead too.

Only fell of the once this time, and that was when it was already down and I stalled it, so not a bad stack. I certainly don’t stress about where to look any more. That part just seems to happen now. I’ve pretty much got to the point now where even if things get a bit unbalanced I can usually ride offf the side like Max did and survive.

In the end it’s all in your head. Just repeat until it goes away. Don’t think I’d attempt anything narrower though.

A little tip. If you want test how good someones balance is then stand on the bottom end of the teetor totter whilst they ride up the high end.

Another tip. If you do this then be prepared to get punched in the head, ie keep your helmet on.

Yeah mate. Between Narrabri and Bingara. http://www.biketerritory.com.au

I’m keen to do an Old Bull’s weekend but thought there seemed to be a lot of rides on at the moment and didn’t want to step on others toes. January is out as already pretty much booked as far as I know. Maybe late February or March.
