great rebuild ,interesting reading and your right they will look at it on the trailer it doesnt have to be new to be good ,keep the photos coming
September 20, 2012 at 9:30 am #229684we have done a bit more work
craig got the seat refoamed and covered
then we realized the seat was bent up from what must have been one badarse flip….“it could have been from any number of misadventures”, replied craig when quizzed on how the f**k he did that
we whipped on some new chain rollers with HT bolts. the OEM ones are N/A from yamaha
hooked up the spanking new Mikuni TMX carb (with reasonably correct jetting  )
and new OEM throttle setup… took 4 months to get the new screws from Yamaha, we had actually given up on them   we had a beer to celebrate :cheer:
we also played around with the tank and seat and plastics and radiators to make sure it all lined up, which it did. miraculously…. so we had another beer
then last night the wheel fairy, aka TB, dropped them off and had a beer while he tweaked some nipples and paid out on my KTM Adventure bike
more to come…
November 29, 2013 at 8:07 am #229732howdy folks,
thought you might like a long overdue update.the old girl is finished
we got her to starta few months ago, even though it was a bitch to start…the jetting was buggered as i finally worked out, the pilot jet was a 20 size when it should be nearer to a 60 size  so its starving for fuel at start/idle
it was all a bit of a guessing game as the new carb came with the 20, the FMF website recommends a 45 and the factory manual says its a bloody 60 :S
its got the 60 in it now but it was too late to start it the other night but i think it will be alright now
it doesn’t help having a girly little kickstarter either…. really, what were yamaha thinking back then     :laugh:anyway, we cycled her a few times as a pre run in and checked her out with a thermal camera to check for leaks or any other anomaly…
in purtyer colours…
everything was cool with only a minor weep from a hose that was easily fixed.
we waited for a month or so for the bloke who painted the tank to f**k around as he is a perfectionist wanker
he did a great job matching the colour and used some special 2 pack stuff that stunk to high heaven. it come up great.a few finishing touches and she is magazine ready
we took her to a secret location for some outdoor nude photography…
funnily enough, the day we first started this project was the 1st December 2010
and its first day in the bush will be this sunday, 1st December 2013 :woohoo:i’ll throw up some action shots after Sundays first session
