It’s almost like Dirtbikes have become a form of trade between lowlifes.

I now know my paranoia is justified

    They like quad bikes too.
I know someone who has had 2 small quads stolen and a ride-on mower over a few years.

Mate thanks to many years of crusty demons, having a dirtbike is all part and parcel of the “Badboy” image, along with shit loads of tats and not having a job.

As most of these so called “Badboys” don’t work the only way to beef up their image is to steal your hard earned bike.

I am genuinely sorry for your loss Gili & Ollie as I would be heartbroken to find any of our bikes stolen.

We recently heard of another type of situation that is occuring on Ebay. A WR450F was offered at a really good price and the bidder was spun a story about the bike being in Darwin but could be shipped if they paid for it upfront. The bidder did this and the bike never arrived. The poor guy is now out of pocket by a lot of dollars (don’t know exactly what he paid for it) and the police have basically said that this has happened a number of times and the trail ends somewhere in England I think.

I know this is not the same as having a bike stolen but it still reflects the depths that the bottom feeders of this world will go to.

BTW thanks for the tip Scotty regarding the wheel locking system. This is very relevant. Take note DanD.

Afew months ago the local Husky dealer was broken into and a number of bikes taken from the workshop, problems were…

*The owner of the business is an oldtime realife 1 percenter bikie, who knows this game well and is liked and respected by many across the community,

*two of the bikes they stole were bikes in for repairs owned by a very prominent footballing family whose matriach and patriach are local elders.

*They opened their mouths just the once about their new acquisitions.

Results, bikes returned with apologies by other members of the young criminals families, and a rumoured smacking or two was handed out.

But unfortunately this is not always the case.

A few years back family friends had their Kids bikes stolen out of a locked shed with a big $$$$ skiboat and many other things ignored, a few months later he was drinking down at a Coffs pub and was offered just such bikes by a skinny dirty feral looking bloke, cut a long story short it was friends of his across the road nieghbours who learnt they had bikes, and watched them leave for a trip away. Bikes recovered, scumbags prosecuted and found guilty of this and other bike thefts, again far too uncommon.

Gotta love a happy ending ay Bruce. The most you could hope for is that they break their necks riding the stolen bikes.

That is bad to hear Ollie.

Hopefully with the amount of members that Old Bulls has and with the amount of people that each of us talk to something will come up that might help with the revovery of these bikes.

The problem with bikes though they will probably be broken up and the non identiable parts will be sold.

As for bike security, I have wondered if chaining through the wheels is enough? Obviously not. The problem is though if the pieces of crap that steal bikes or anything for that matter, want it bad enough they will take it any which way.

I always chain my bike throught he frame, chaining it through the wheels is next to pointless. That said, I don’t always chain the bikes up  I will now.

Sorry to hear about your bike Ollie/Gilli, that truly sucks shit. I hope the guys that stole it get what they deserve.

you feel so bloody helpless when this kind of thing happens. As im on exercise in Hobart, my girl was staying at home by herself, poor thing was beside herself when she popped out to see why the shed was half open at 6 in the morn! im just thankful it was only the shed and not the house while she was still inside!

As for those who chain thier bikes, i had TWO bikes chain/locks one on each end, with a bike cover in a locked shed with a car in the drive.
If they want it, they’ll get it.

Thankfully i have a great landlord who has since installed a tough deadbolt, as well as one of those roller door lock down do-hicky jobs. This will certainly prompt me to put one of those bolt to floor locking points in when i can afford a new bike…hopefully insurance covers!

Just out of interest……… How was this matter dealt with by the Police??
Did they come round and fingerprint or anything like that? Did they show the slightest bit of interest? Any leads? Have they contacted you since?

Have you contacted them since,to see how investigations are going??

The Police did come around and look for prints, reckon gloves were worn, they took all the details etc. I havnt heard anything back from them yet,but they said they dont hold much hope :( Im getting an alarm installed at my place and other security devices. It also pays to have everything identifiable with serial numbers photo’s etc.

    Ollie

Ps thanks to everyone who have wished us well and for the recovery of our bikes. I would love to find out who they are. The justice system is an arse, as all these scum of the earth parasites receive is a slap on the wrist and then get out to do the same thing again. Stiffer penalties are deinately required and I think cct video in every street wouldnt hurt either.

    just my 2 cents

    Ollie
