I’ve just come back from four days away with the family. Loaded the bike up for a week of solo adventuring and bugger me the thing won’t start.

It turns over but just won’t fire up.

I’ve checked battery terminals all good.

It started and ran perfectly the day before I went away.

Sidestand switch? It can’t be the main fuse otherwise it wouldn’t turn over.

    Ideas anyone? Mr Squiggle?

Don’t know much about tigers but are you getting any spark , is it easy to pull the plug out and wind the eng over to check the spark plug
what about security system disabling the ignition circuit
got fuel ? Sounds dumb but……
    Best of luck
    air box is clear etc

Wont be the sidestand switch wigster, does not stop it from starting unless its in gear. have you tried cracking the throttle just a little as you wind her over? They have the occasional tiger with problems at idle.

Also, when you turn off then turn on the ignition can you hear the fuel pump whirring away for the few seconds it normally does?

Thanks guys. Bike started a couple of hours after my first post, and started fine first thing this morning.

I left my GPS on overnight a couple of weeks ago and perhaps I have stuffed the battery. I read on a couple of Triumph forums that the battery has to crank out a certain voltage to actually start the bike rather than just turn the engine over.

I am going to try and get a new battery today to be on the safe side.

    Thanks again.

Gps shouldn’t pull battery down overnight, they have a safety switch under the bike just forward of the centre stand that cuts the bike out if you lay it down, I know this has given problems in the past and Plinth had to fix it on his round oz trip. They get a bit sticky and need attention from time to time another guy found his bike cutting out after erosion jumps etc and that was the cause for him too. Maybe worth a look.

Thanks Boulder, I’ll check it out. New battery in, seems fine now.

I dunno, modern electronics! I could bump start my old Transalp even when I left the heated grips on for two days!
