I reckon rec rego will suck big ones. The government bodies involved just see the revenue. All those blokes with motorcross bikes that dont race em should have regoed bikes if they wanna ride in the bush. I’ll be lookin down on em that’s for sure like they are a ball short in the sack dept cause if they can’t race they motos at the moto track on bikes that are made for it …well they are a bit soft i reckon…boo for rec rego:angry: time it seems will tell.

Just to add my bit Rec Rego in Victoria costs around $80.00 a year and you can ride on any secondary road be it tar or dirt. You can ride in forest be it state or federal but you are suppose to stick to formed track etc and you must have a motorcycle licence or learners permit and you are under the same road rule as on the road. There is quite a move down here to close off a lot of tracks because of track damage caused by 4wds and where they go dirtbikes go and down here the treehugger lobby far out ways the 4wd and dirtbike lobbies. I think that in the not to distant future that all trails will be closed and if you want to ride you will have to go to a bike park in the middle of nowhere to get away from the sooks and wingers.
I am fortunate that where I live I can ride my must places in the area and not go on major roads so as must people I know that have trailbikes and don’t use them to commute have Rec Rego.

PS NSW always was a ripoff when it came to rego.

The scheme proposed in NSW will be similar to the Vic format.
You will be fine to ride on dirt roads and cross Tar roads.
    ADR compliant bikes.
45 days will be monitored by registering on a website, print out the registration for the day document and carry it with you.
    All road rules apply.
As for Govco committees, agreed, but the MCCofNSW is involved in this and we will make it work.
Apart from all that what we now ahve is a Motorcycle group with direct access to State Forests, NPSW etc and they are listening to us.
For the first time in a lot of yeatrs we now have a direct line to these people and we intend to use it for the best result for riders.
Apart from that if you look at the Vic system, some of the rec rego money will be used to provide facilities etc for dirt bike riders.
The details are getting hammered out but that is the loose plan.

Whilst I am appreciating all the work the MCC is doing, I had not heard of it before this thread. I have been tied up in our local dirt bike club for over 5 years now and all our dealings are with MNSW. Is MNSW tied in with the MCC in any way or at the very least do they support you in your endeavours.

I’ve had a look at your website now and it appears that most of the things you do are road bike related and I guess this is where the bigger bike riding numbers are. In saying that, the fact that you are looking into rec rego indicates that you represent all riders including off road riding. Are there any dirt bike clubs that are MCC members.

Wow guys, talk about some hate for the poor old motocross bikes. :P

I’m going to just duck out the back gate and take the YZ for a ride in your honour 👿

    Might even get a quad out there whilst I’m at it. :P :P :P :P :P

Make the most of it, because with that kind of attitude soon none of us will have a place to ride. I know your joking but there are people out there who do this who are F–king it up for everybody.

I dont hate motorcross bikes I hate the dickheads that ride noisy unregistered ones in forests and NPs and wherever they shouldnt. I also hate the sort of attitude they have to others and the sport like Captain was joking about above :silly:

But as the subject is bought up why dont they ride their motorcross bikes on motorcross tracks? I asked a guy once at the Watagans and he said it was a hassle. When I asked what happens if he has a head on as far as insurance goes and he said he was too good a rider to have a head on

You have land there Captain you could make a phat track I figure or would it piss your neighbours off??

I agree with TB but my words may have been a little hash. Sorry if I offended anyone. I just like the sysyem as it is and if it changes for the worst because of it (rec rego) then that will be very shitty and suck big time.

I reckon just pay rego shut up and get on with riding
we canride where we want and are permitted 2 and if need be u can ride down any road u like to get to another track tif they change things it won’t be for our benefit
the sooner u realise that the better
goverments and corp bodies or whoever don’t change things to benefit someone else only themselves
if u can’t afford rego u shouldn’t have a dirt bike as they aren’t cheap either
    thats my 2c worth
    Hammer away

I’ve got 35000 hectares of State Forest out my back gate. I’m all for rec-rego.

If you can’t afford to live on a property with 35000 hectares of State Forest out your back gate you shouldn’t have a dirt bike as they aren’t cheap either.

Now if you don’t mind, I am off to roost some Rangers and eat some babies. 👿

I would bet noise close to populated areas would be affecting our sport more than the the erosion/ environment damaging side. Look what the noise issue did to Jet ski’s in Australia. The manufacturers were aware of this and quietened them down. I rode Steves WR450 it had some after market slip on and it was much louder/annoying than my YZ 450 with the stock pipe. Have a look around on your next ride and see the percentage of bikes that have loud aftermarket pipes. Just because you are doing the right thing with having a rego’d bike does not mean you aren’t pissing someone off. If you touch the exhaust it isn’t really roadworthy anyway. The third party insurance is the only real issue I can see with a MX bike in the bush. As far as safety is concerned apart from increased visibility of a front light a MX bike is just as safe to ride on single trails etc. The current RMX 450 fixes that issue though.
