AnonymousGet the bike you want, you only live once. I went from 4t to 2t and loved it (although I recently packed riding in :blush). If you do trail riding more than racing the 300 may be the better option if you’re hell bent on a 2 stroke. It has more low end torque and plenty of go when you need it.
If you’re after a softer option any of the 4t 250’s are pretty good (I’d go the Yammy though). The KTM can be made to be pretty docile with the powervalve setting, ignition map setting, jetting and gearing. As you improve adjust to suit and you’ll have a bike that will take on the best of em’

February 15, 2010 at 12:23 am #170633Thanks for the advise MOTO … I gotta go with the 250 because I am going to be on L plates and I want to fully register the bike. ( Im pretty sure that the 300 is not listed as a learners beast )
Can I be so rude as to ask why you packed in the riding ?

:laugh just joking! I’m having a change of direction and the bikes cost me too much cash each month so I made the decision to sell up for a year or two. There is a thread here about it if you’re that interested!

yup even the 640 is LAMS approved.
the list of road bikes up to around the 750cc ( ??? ) mark that are not on the LAMS list is shorter than the approved bikes. from memory.
some are the RGV, NSR and Aprilia 2T 250’s. up until the power to weight ratio rule come in these bikes were L plate leagel
February 15, 2010 at 8:01 am #170348Hi KTM 250
I just got a 300 and there a fantastic machine. nothing like the old two strokes.
Plenty of power down low to take on the toughest hill climbs.
There quite happy to poke around with low revs without fouling especialy with the jd jetting.
My mate got one last year and its the his first bike, he loves it and has had no trouble riding it around slowly you just need to back off the throttle but if youwant to crack it open you can.Cheers

February 15, 2010 at 8:16 am #171215the 250 is a good bike to best thing is to ride a few different bikes before you buy if you want a 250 just do it
