i want a decent gripping rear tire that the 610 wont eat after 1 ride and that will last for about 700km – 1000km i had a metzler mc6 motorcross on it atm but looking for bit more grip. but a lasting tire the metzler is too hard but lasts longer on the tar. if any one has a suggestions i’m listening. i want to get the most out of my tires.
July 26, 2011 at 12:31 am #205490bridgstone 604 and 603 grip well on medium to hard terrain(thats what there made for) last well average in the mud but they are not a mud tyre
July 26, 2011 at 12:37 am #205491I`ve already got just under 2000k on my Pirelli MT21`s and the reaqr is around 50 %
A third of those ks were on tar, the rest dirt & the only grip probs I have had is the front on loose gravel
You commute the Husky don`t ya Whanster ??? Pirreli`s Might be worth a try mate ,,,
Cheers
July 26, 2011 at 12:55 am #205504i wish i could say i commute it but the bloody thing spends most its time in storage atm
but i like to take it out for little ride round town ocassionally but i’m finding the tire dissapeaing quickly but i dont want a tire i cant ride up in the forest with either and i cant afford to run 2 sets atm.
July 26, 2011 at 6:47 pm #205506Pirelli Scorpion MX Extra
Probably not heaps good on the road but that shits boring anyway
July 26, 2011 at 8:21 pm #205492I ran MX Extra`s for a while (but are not DOT approved on road to commute) Good Tyres but reckon the 690 would rip them up fast, so too would the Husky 610 maybe
And despite what some twits from other sites think about my bike,,,,,, It does more dirt than tar at the moment (a lot more than those blokes prabably  ) and the MT`s hook up in the Wattos real nice so far !!!!
As for “Boring”,,, there is no such thing on two wheels, it beats sitting at home hands down
My 2c worth
July 26, 2011 at 8:28 pm #205559Try the Metzler MC5. 120/100 or 120/90
Cheap deals arond ATM.I have run this on my 300 and have no issue with knob tear :S even in the Sunny Corner loam.It will give you at least 500 kms and handle all aspects of your forest work. Riding to work may not be an option as it is not for hwy use.

Yeah LC is right, got great miles out of the Pirelli Scorpion MX Extras, I couldnt tear the knobs of the rears and they did the best miles I have got out of a rear on the XR. Trouble is they arent road legal, so if you are going to do any road work Whanny and sounds like you are get a set of Dunlop 606’s IMO they will do everything you want well and be road legal if you have an accident. Yoy should expect around the 3 to 4 thousand mark out of them

July 26, 2011 at 9:34 pm #205493I rated the MX Extras pretty high I can tell ya
Awsome Tyres !!! But yeah, the non DOT approval was the only reason I didn`t buy any more (would love to give one a run on the 690 snd still might yet)
Looks like I am gonna get close to 4000 or more out of my MT rear, more out of the front
Pretty happy with them so far (getting used to the front too) :laugh:July 26, 2011 at 9:57 pm #205578EAGLE`02 wrote:I rated the MX Extras pretty high I can tell yaAwsome Tyres !!! July 26, 2011 at 10:15 pm #205579thanks for the help guys its important i get some thing that will last since i want to use my bike a far bit but cant afford new tires every second ride
July 26, 2011 at 10:38 pm #205494Tyres are a bugger of thing, everyone is different so the right tyre for me is the wrong one for someone else. :S
I didn’t like the 604 cause it just didn’t suit my riding, it took a bit to flog it out so I could get a new 404.
I think a 604 is a good tyre and good wearing and would definitely recommend it to someone in your position, but for someone like me who has trouble pointing a 300 in the right direction at the best of times  I would not recommend.Good luck mate.
