AnonymousI reckon if it had Yamaha badging you would have a better bike. But thats coming from someone that has only ever had Yamaha’s so my opinion could be a little tainted.
Champo offered me a ride on the TM once. I had to decline. I’m not that good a rider.

AnonymousShame. If I was looking at getting another bike I have to admit i would think about a two smoker. The TM would be top of the list, or at least it would have been until they swapped the forks out for what I can only percieve (with no experience to back this up) as a weaker product in the front forks.
Would be good to hear what an owner thinks of the new bike though. Especially if they had previously owned the Ohlins set-up TM.

Quote:what mods could you do to a bike that already has all the best gear?put the best rider on it. that is where tms fall short. certainly true in my case
just test rode a couple of TMs a 250 and a 300 am thinking of getting a two stroke next would go the 250 over the 300.just wondering what the spare parts availability and pricing is like.as champo said they don t need many mods but have the hardest seat i have ever sat on on a moterbike
May 17, 2009 at 9:36 am #134613Rocket Im pretty sure the 07 GAS GAS seat is carved from fossilized iron bark:blink: (padded bike pants and talcum powder is a must) Why the 250 over the 300? When it comes to resale I think the 300 would be easier to sell. Very nice bikes and Cross country are good guys.

May 17, 2009 at 9:55 am #134616i rode a 09 300 gas gas to Ollie it was a very nice bike and would prably be a better bike over a long day than the tm s .the gas gas seat was a lot better than the TMs .its just with my height the tm fitted like a glove and the gas gas was a bit cramped for me .i just prefered the tm250 think the tm300 had to much power for me.the gas gas 300 would be my 2nd choice out of those 3 bikes .
May 17, 2009 at 10:04 am #134623The Gas Gas is a great trailbike especially with the six speed box,and I agree it is a bit shorter than the TM,but nothing a set of bar raisers wouldnt fix, Im 176cm and it suits me as is I know your a bigun:laugh: I think the TM’s have had their power toned down this year to make them more rideable, there is also a new power valve adjuster out now that can give you up to 16 different settings when combined with the map switch. What ever you decide mate cant go wrong with both brands.

Quote:what are the spare parts availability and pricing is likei live a short walk from dealers that sell, hondas, suzukis, bmws, yamahas, kawasakis, aprilias and ktms. there is also a gas gas and husky dealer near my work.
the tm dealer is an hour away
however i find the tm is the fastest to get parts for.
because they are the importer, and mail the parts to me
i can phone them or send them and email in the morning and often have the parts in my letter box by the time i get home from work. SAME DAY!!!i find that the price is fair. considering the quality of most of the parts
May 17, 2009 at 10:19 am #134626i got plenty of time to think about it ollie but the extra gear on the gas gas has got me thinking love the 6th gear on my ktm and the TM seat is hard
