Fish and I will be on our way tomorrow heading for Mildura to meet up with some old mates!!
The plan is to ride up to the Flinders ranges with them and have a day ride, then to ride over to the Gammon ranges to let TK’s ashes go in one of his favorite places. We will then ride back via Camerons cnr and then down to Broken Hill and home.
I am looking forward to meeting up with the old Sidetrack team and I am sure a few drinks will be had along the way!!
If we get a chance to find a computer we will post up some pics.
I have some OB stickers to post along our route.August 17, 2011 at 12:43 am #207242Sounds like a great ride and a great reason to do it!! Looking forward to hearing about your adventures Boulder, take plenty of photos. good luck and have a great ride!

August 27, 2011 at 2:26 pm #207244Just arrived home, what a trip met up with some old mates from the Sidetrack days and met some really good blokes on a very memorable ride.
We arrived at Rusty’s place in Mildura and it was great to see so many old faces, after unloading the bikes we had a few beers and a great BBQ feed while we all caught up!!
After a good nights sleep our journey began and we headed for Blinman via Yunta and some great private farm tracks and really good roads with spectacular scenery.
Four hours in and we had a rider down and three and a half hours later he was taken out by the paramedics and we could continue. He punctured both lungs and tore his Aorta valve, he is in a stable condition in Adelaide Hospital.
We were late getting in to Yunta and had to ride in the dark dodging Roo’s and Emus.
After a good feed and a sleep we headed for Blinman.
It was a big night in Blinman with so many riders making the trip and a good night was had by all.Phil introduced us to MAD beer and its a top drop!!
Next morning and the Doc led us on a ride that had everything, we rode up some never ending creek beds and some great station tracks Awesome!!
Wednesday morning arrived and it was time to head for Arkarula and do what we had come for and put a mate to rest.
The view from TK’S resting place.
Thursday and time to head for the corner and home via Broken hill
We stopped for a swim at a bore.
Met an Old Bull along the way.
Great ride, in very good company. Tony would have been proud.August 27, 2011 at 2:31 pm #207698Great stuff. A fantastic resting place for TK.

TK really did touch a lot of peoples lives through Sidetrack magazine and was a driving force in adventure riding as we know it today.August 27, 2011 at 6:15 pm #207700Looks like a great ride Boulder. Top resting place for TK.
Loved the Sidetrack mag. I think I have every issue from 1998 when I started riding.
August 27, 2011 at 6:15 pm #207246Good stuff Boulder, Good As Gold mate
Looks like you blokes had a ripper of a time, put TK to rest where he will be able to look out over the country he loved so much, and had some dramas with old mate & his accident too :unsure:Thanx for sharing your trip mate
August 28, 2011 at 12:36 am #207247Fantasic report Boulder and a beautiful place to spread a true Legends ashes. The pictures are unreal, the company would have been awesome truly sorry I missed it.
Hey where did you stick the spare OBT stickers mate
One question, how many flats did you and Fish get?
TB
August 28, 2011 at 12:47 am #207736I was a Sidetrack subsciber for years and always enjoyed the adventure stuff but didn’t get around to doing it………till now.
Great report Boulder.
RIP TK
August 28, 2011 at 1:06 am #207249No flats TB. The dr’s were awesome and did the trip with little trouble.
I blew a battery and had to push start the big girl on the last day.
Both Fish and I broke the chain guides on the swing arms
I also broke the main frame and had to get it welded along the way :S but that was my bad too hard into the big boulders in the creek beds
We rode the bikes in terrain that they were not made for and considering this point they did it all very well.
I am really looking forward to getting her ready for the next adventure!!
Craig Hartley nearly talked us into a couple of KTM 990 while we were at the Corner, but alas we cant afford them at this point in timeThose Queensland boys punted those bikes fully loaded in the deep sand creek beds etc bloody awesome to see :woohoo:
It was a trip to remember and I cant wait to get out to the Corner country again soon.August 28, 2011 at 1:12 am #207739990s ha and you reckon a Tenere is heavy  lots of power but
destroy chains, sprockets and tyres  lots of power but
you are smarter than that but
Broken frame ? WTF and pics, was it in the swing arm pivot area? Seen them crack there before
