Because of a little incident i had yesterday i’m wondering if a better quality of boot would have prevented the stick going through the boot. Currently have AXO boots which are basically entry level so would a better more expensive pair have helped.

If the answer is yes, then its high fives all round cause the good wifey has said yes to me getting them after hearing of my woes. (i did quietly add a few furphies in the story to make it sound worse than what it was)

I’d say better quality boots would certainly help Jak. They usually fit better and if you try on as many brands as you can you’ll find something to fit nice and snugg around the foot area. I think some of the dearer ones have nice hard plastic around the foot and pull down tight to minimise the issue you had.

Maybe post a photo of your boot and where the stick went in and we can all look at our boots to see if we would have the same issues.

My feet are to small for stick issues as they tuck in behind the engine cases most of the time. :)

Good idea on the photo, its easier to advise when we can see the entry point, some boots I have had or seen do have thick plastic all around the foot and ankle, and front of shin, but it depends on the entry point of the stick if that’s gunna be any help.

Another idea would be to take the boot to a trusted bike shop (One that does not just want a sale but wants to help) and show them, then ask them to show you a better boot and explain how and why it would have potentially prevented it, if they don’t convince you then don’t buy the boots.

    Cheers.

IMO the type and shape of stick and speed of bike and would have the biggest bearing on weather it was going to go through your boot or not. Yes some of the very low end boots made out of old school material could give less protection. But unless it is made out or Kevlar or metal I think it would still go through. Some of the more high end boots are aimed at Motocross and I think are more for fashion and comfort than protection from sticks. But keep the story going regardless cause a new set of sounds great :)

The stick went up under the buckle. The screwdriver shows the angle of the stick

Yeh the stick went right through. It only scratched me ankle. No injury, but because i have bugger all felling in my ankle and foot and because the angle of the stick stopped my ankle from bending i thought it was a lot worse. Cant tell you how relieved i was when i found it hadnt gone into me ankle.

Shit, lucky there mate. I don’t know that any boot would stop that Jak.

Those photos explain the lack of feeling. Looks like a bad injury, almost like something tried to chop your leg off.

Is it just me or is your foot hairy in the post op photo. Thought the hot little nurse would have shaved it for you.

    #194230

a car tried to chop his leg off Roy :(

if that nurse had of started shaving his foot 20 odd years ago, and kept going on the rest of him, she might almost be finished by now

Those boots are the same type n brand as mine, I,m guesing that could happen to just about any soft type of boot.Just bad luck I think.
