The rule of thumb I was told a few years back is it costs double what you actually pay the employee to keep the employee I.E: $2.00 per hr, actual cost $4.00 per hr to take in all of the above costs. my 2cents worth.

Chicken go to bed a happy man, you have hit the nail on the head,,,;) ;)

Just come from reading the latest on AB’s drowned bike thread.

and reading if the engine in his bike has to be dropped out to helicoil the drain plug .

and he will drop the engine himself to save $100/h for the shop to do it.

I was too lazy to dig out the other thread so I’ll post this update here.

The shop (N.B. not KTM newcastle) initially said they could do it without pulling the motor but I just got a call saying sorry we wont be able to get to it safely with the motor in so we’d have to pull it or you could do it yourself and bring it back in for the helicoil.

For them to pull it and put the heli in its $350 if I bring the engine to them its $100.

He was perfectly happy for me to pull the motor myself and called me before he did any chargeable work so I’m happy enough except for the inconvenience of having to go pick it up again but that’s no big deal. So as per my original point, for $250 I’ll be happy enough to spend a night or two in the shed drinking beer :D

Yeah I expect so. With any luck I’ll have a garage/workshop by then too!
