Hi everyone
Well here’s the go, want to do a ride from Milton to araluen, stay overnight an then ride back. problem is we can get from Milton to Nelligan no probs, but have only been from there to araluen once about 4yrs ago. So wondering if anybody has a trail map for that leg. We want to do a couple of rides to get a loop sorted but would love to have some backup maps just in case because I think if you get it wrong you can spend a lot of time going round in circles:(cheers Hatto

July 13, 2009 at 9:53 am #143346Will check with a mate from down that way for you.
He once got us from Nelligen to Larry Mountain Road (which connects with Araluen Road) by some awesome little back trails, creek crossings and hill climbs. Nothing difficult as the bikes were two Weestroms, a g650x and a KTM950 but amazing fun and literally in the middle of nowhere.
Will try to get the track names but we left the Kings Highway just west of Nelligen.

Quote:The way we went was from Nelligen head towards Braidwood for around 5 k’s, LHT Old Bolero mountain rd and follow the main track, keep going and stay RHS of radio tower and follow for a while till T intersection which should be Misty Mountain rd turn left and follow till creek and cross(can be deep, rocky), continue 300mtrs LHT onto No Name fire trail and follow for around 10 k’s keeping to the left, I think there is a LHT but if you stick to the main track you should be ok. Follow another 3 to 5 k’s and turn right and follow for arouind 3ks till RHT Gollorborie road and follow for about 20k’s till Knowles rd, turn right and follow about 5k’s till T intersection which is Araluen rd, turn right and follow about 40k’s.Below is the link to the ride report which has some pics and vids of a few sections. The tracks themselves were those before we left Dave’s house after lunch.

We know a few of those roads and can pick our way through a few fire trails but was looking for more single/twin type track as we all prefer bush to roadcheers Hatto

July 22, 2009 at 3:57 am #144870Try Shonkymaps (not shonky at all, actually very good for a freebe) topographicals. They show trails but not single track of course.
