Where are you guys intending to overnight this Friday TB ?

I am looking at Binnaway for Thursday night and Innamincka Saturday Night but have nothing to aim for in between . I thought I may be able to catch up with you and Pete and Crash Friday , lunch or Dinner or just drinkies  .

So what is your Friday game plan ? ;)

Ummm Friday night will be either Thargomindah or further. Lunch Hungerford unless we are early in which case who knows? Not going through Innamincka now the thieving pricks there can stick the joint up there arse  when will you be in Birdsville Al? We are supposed to be there lunch Sunday but may just hump out into the desert and go west until its time to turn back for Monday?

    TB

Hungerford is around 2 hrs from Bourke …….. are you slabbing it from Dubbo to Bourke ?

Last time I was in Hungerford we had overnighted in Bourke and still had an early lunch in Hungerford before going on to Thargo for fuel and the Noccundra for a night camped accross the road from the pub next to the billabong .

Seems to me you might be pushing it a bit hard time wise , it’s not a race ……. is it ? 👿

Leaving Trangie 7am Friday morning, 285kms to Bourke, 150 to HF say 5 hrs including a fuel stop. It’s 12 midday then have lunch and 150ish to Thargomindah. That’s the planned overnight stay, where is the race in that? Next day 420 to Windorah and its still only Sat. You must be getting old Al  I reckon if we wanted and had a go we could and would do Trangie to Windorah on the first day ;)

I was more trying to suss out your route from Trangie to Bourke , and by your reply it is obvious , doing the main drag , dodging Roos , goats and sheep at 110 kph :( , look out for plod too , he’ll be sitting about 10 -20 k out from one of the 60 k zones ( towns) along the way .

I might extend my Thursday stretch to Sandy Camp in the Macquarie Marshes, that way I can do mostly dirt into Bourke and still be there by 10 , where are you likely to refuel ? I will use the BP out of town on the rd to Nth Bourke ( and Hungerford ) because they do premium at a reasonable price . The Bourke Bakery in town does a magic coffee and food too if anyone is in need of one or both , come to think of it , I may have to stop there and refresh my memory of the coffee . ;)

Which way you going from Bourke to HF for the 220 Al? :P because when we were at the scrapheap just short of HF I spoke with the publican from HF and said 180kms under two hrs on the bike. I did Bourke to Trangie at Easter (double points) in the car towing a trailer with the family and the stops they require  in 2hrs 45mins so we will be right as rain. We are slabbing to Bourke because as you pointed out we are time challenged ;) but after that 285kms it’s on! We will be at HF before 12 and at Thargomindah before 3 B)

Yeah we need a challenge on this trip :woohoo:

Oh yeah Al, fuel at the BP on the north side not because of the price but because of the takeaway so can do food and fuel in the same place ;)

I have an NRMA map in front of me that says 219 km from Bourke post office to Hungerford via Fords Bridge ),I’ll check another map and see if it is different .

Checked a UBD state map and it says 215 km via Fords Bridge ( straightish line )

Just remember when a bushie says its just down the road  ……….. it could be 300 k’s away , it’s all relative to where you are ……. and how isolated you are used to living .Same goes for bushie Km’s , when a bushie says about a hundred k’s he is usually understating the distance by quite a margin B) .

Yeah I worked out west for years champ was sent to a turbo failure once that was “just out the road”. (7.5 hrs out the road!) 150, 180 or 220 Al it is at the most an hrs difference and 70kms out there is nothing as we both know  we will shit it in either way. To put it into relative terms even if we go to Windorah from Trangie it’s less than the guys do on the longest day and we have better faster roads from the start so its hardly a problem is it ;)

See you there for rumskie and not that shit captain Morgan’s :pinch:
