missed the last one
Can you put me down for the nav ride please
Greg51Hi TB
Unfortunately I am going to have to pull out.I had broken my leg riding in NZ south island mountains late March and so missed out on APC as well as first OB nav ride.
Thought leg would be fully healed by now when I signed up early July .
Below knee bone break is fully repaired, but ankle ligaments and tendons are still well stuffed, swollen and weak as shit, so no riding for me this weekend… bugger!!Hopefully see you on the next one.
Looking fwd to ride reports
Cheers

Even a bit on Sat would be OK. just to keep the dust down.Tractor & I went for a “shakedown ride” on Sat in the Chichester State Forest ( Barrington Tops area = between Dungog & Gloucester ) I know it’s not where we’ll be riding on Nav ride, but it’s not that far away either.
The dust was shocking, that fine powdery crap that hangs in the air. TB has mentioned about freshly graded roads being slippery. Same was true on our ride. The Tenere is not exactly a rocketship, but was spinning up everywhere – really hard to get grip and drive – FUN though :cheer:
Hurry up Friday arv !!
Cheers,
Second the fun bit.
Can’t wait for Friday.
Ironed out some of the teething problems with the 640 mainly induced by the previous owner (and some by me, the heated grips now turn off). She didn’t miss a bit (apparently much to the surprise of a near future corider
)
She is raring to go. :woohoo:

One day he will own and ride a reliable piece of machinery and wonder why he “batted for the other side” for so long!
August 12, 2013 at 8:06 am #244898You blokes may not have to worry about dust!
ELDERS WEATHER LINK shows 80% chance of 1-5mm of rain on Sat and 40% chance of less than 1mm of rain.
But as we all know that is likely to change at the drop of a hat
August 12, 2013 at 8:41 am #244899What of a cracker of a ride on the weekend. We had everything thrown in up hills down hills big logs across the track, and water crossings. You will go from the bush to the ocean bush again then rivers of the Macleay and back to the bush.
This is the one not to be missed, this ADV ride will test you all the way till the end.
At one stage we had to skull drag the bikes under a tree, this will be gone before you all come through.
There is plenty of dust and you need to take care as you will not see the rider in front, and the road has been graded and are really slippery
The accommodation is great, right on the Nambucca River and the food is good, give the egg omelette ago. See you all next week
Cheers

August 12, 2013 at 8:46 am #247874Hey TB,
Merlyn is out for this ride, his KTM 990 is still not repaired, they have found the problem though, loose main crank bolt
No chance he will be ready.

No good mate, you would think that they would loan him a bike given that it broke down with less than 1000kms on it and only weeks old and its taken them since the last navigation ride in June to just diagnose it!!!  Shame on the dealer and KTM

Its got 4K on the odo but still really new, and obviously a QA stuffup. You have got to give kudos to the Japanese on thier quality assurance, I have never had an issue with a new bike until I bought a new KTM. Head bolts torqued incorrectly resulting in leak on the head gasket on number1. All fixed up by KTM newcastle (NEVER BUY A MOTORCYCLE FROM PRO-CYCLES HORNSBY .. EVER, youve been warned)
KTM newcastle have been great, good communication and they have put time in on the bike. They did have to wait a few weeks for some parts. We talked to Shane about a loan bike but they dont have one so no luck.
Merlyn will make the next one I am sure, mind you he changes bikes often so it may be on a new 1190 if the parts take too long.

Which side I bat for is a personal preference and one which I’m comfortable with
